Forever Frost - I knew you had to be part of the USAWTFM nation.

This was horrible to hear about involving any disabled person, but a veteran, disgusting. Not to mention I think it was kinda f'd up anyways to put him on anything but ground floor.

That said, $289 for a fucking Best Western room? What the fuck?
He is lucky he even found a room out here without a 2 week notice. You can't hardly touch a hotel in the Permian basin for under $200 right now. As sad as it is this story doesn't surprise me at all, everyone worth a shit is working in the oil field so all of the hospitality industry is left with the bottom of the barrel employees.

The newest hotel that opened in Midland a few weeks ago was at 90% capacity within 1 hour of opening its doors.

Choctaw Casino? No, it's not. The hotel is Choctaw Grand. And it's also a four diamond hotel.

Lol at the inability to understand hotel pricing. Some of y'all have never been anywhere busy, in a critical supply/demand area, or nice I see.

You are right - was going off what someone else told me earlier (we were doing a bday casino trip next weekend and she went off on the whole thing)

Lol @ you. I travel quite a bit for work, and stay at a lot of nice hotels during national conventions (meaning everything is booked to capacity). I understand exactly how it works. As for the nice comment, do you not know how the rating system works? IIRC my suite at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler was right at $300/night, and that's the most I've ever spent on a hotel, but it was a suite, not the standard room, and during the peak of ski season. And it is certainly leaps and bounds above a Best Western motel.

Side note: Do you have any medium range culinary recommendations for a quick stop in Whistler? Some place where I can eat at a bar, preferably?

                    Carry on.

Side side note: Considering you like Chuy's, you'll probably be plenty happy grabbing a microwave "burrito" at a truck stop.

                      Carry on.

I've always said I am very easy to please when it comes to food. You wouldn't want me to start dissecting your shitty whiskey palette, now would you?

Man, it's been about 9 years since I was up there. I would think most of that stuff has changed by now. I'll get up in the attic this weekend and see if I can dig up my stuff from that trip.

Go right ahead. I don't love whiskey. Can't stand it straight. I like Crown and Coke because it tastes good to me as a beverage, much like chocolate milk or purple Koolaid, but it also gets me drunk. I have no "palette" for whiskey (or any booze) that would be worth defending. I do see how that compares to your taste in food, so point taken.

                            Oh, and fuck Best Western!

What are you loling at with me? Answer that logically...but remember my comment is directly related to the fools that don't know what happens when hotels start selling out of rooms or expect a huge demand.

I don't give a shit how nice a hotel you've stayed at. Go stay in Vegas at any nice hotel...they're all relatively cheap or free if you play...and that's because they're all nice. I've stayed at all kinds of places throughout the us and Canada for work. My Last trip to Toronto and Detroit, our admin booked me a day after a coworker and the room rates in Detroit went from ~100/night to over $200 for a nothing special hotel. This was all because in that time TACOM announced a huge conference.

I've also stayed at resorts on Huntington beach for 129/night...

Please tell me you understand this...

Same here. I haven't been to Whistler since '03. But what I do remember is the kick ass sushi. No specific place... All of it.
