Being that he contacted this group prior to best Western reaching out to him do we know if he was satisfied with their response? Obviously the manager was fucking pathetic but if he was happy with best westerns attempt to settle this then I see no reason why this is a story. If he was unhappy with their response then ill jump on the bandwagon...

Choctaw Casino? No, it's not. The hotel is Choctaw Grand. And it's also a four diamond hotel.

That explains why they wanted $300 a night when we booked for the Alan Jackson concert next month. Fwiw, their customer service is Excellent! When I said to the young lady on the phone that I wasn't looking to spend $600 on two rooms she immediately began to give me a list of the nearby hotels, replete with phone numbers. Ended up booking at the Holiday Inn for $109 a night with free shuttles back and forth...

Lol @ you. I travel quite a bit for work, and stay at a lot of nice hotels during national conventions (meaning everything is booked to capacity). I understand exactly how it works. As for the nice comment, do you not know how the rating system works? IIRC my suite at the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler was right at $300/night, and that's the most I've ever spent on a hotel, but it was a suite, not the standard room, and during the peak of ski season. And it is certainly leaps and bounds above a Best Western motel.

What are you loling at with me? Answer that logically...but remember my comment is directly related to the fools that don't know what happens when hotels start selling out of rooms or expect a huge demand.

I don't give a shit how nice a hotel you've stayed at. Go stay in Vegas at any nice hotel...they're all relatively cheap or free if you play...and that's because they're all nice. I've stayed at all kinds of places throughout the us and Canada for work. My Last trip to Toronto and Detroit, our admin booked me a day after a coworker and the room rates in Detroit went from ~100/night to over $200 for a nothing special hotel. This was all because in that time TACOM announced a huge conference.

I've also stayed at resorts on Huntington beach for 129/night...

Yes, I understand it. I still think the rate he paid was absurd. On average in my experience, hotels tend to go up about $100 over the rate for a normal night, when there are conventions in town, etc. I'm not a fool, but I was commenting on how ridiculous that is.

As for not giving a shit about how nice of places I've stayed at, my comment was a direct response to the quote below. It wasn't a brag, just a response.

I was merely stating I've stayed at some of the nicest hotels in the US, when demand is higher than supply. So I know how it works. But I've still never seen price gouging to that extreme. We're talking about a $60 motel room here, in nearly every other city in the US.

Same here. I haven't been to Whistler since '03. But what I do remember is the kick ass sushi. No specific place... All of it.

Yeah, I don't do sushi, but there is a lot of it up there, I'd just always get something tempura battered, or something I can stomach like spyder or california rolls. I remember a German restaurant we ate at, that was pretty tasty, but a quick look through Urban Spoon, and I couldn't find it listed.

That's crazy. I tend to stay at Hilton properties as much as possible, because that's who I signed up with for rewards, and they seem to have more properties in the territory I cover. My counterpart in Austin is a Marriot guy when he has a choice. These are only when we are out on our own though. For shows and conventions, we stay wherever the manufacturer's we represent book us. Westin, Marriot, Fairmont, Omni, etc.

It's par for the course... each city is different. Airport hotels and downtown hotels are always the most expensive, but it even varies by cities.

All depends on how many surrounding properties and what is in the area.
