That usually doesn't fix it either, I know from experience. My sister went down the same path, and I beat her abusive husband nearly to death, and she still stayed with him (I went to talk to him, to warn him what would happen if he did it again, blah blah, and the guy jumped me as I was walking off. When I left him, he was flopping in a puddle of his own blood and puke). Later on down the road, he ended up blowing his head off, and she ended up finding another one like him within a year. He went to prison for some previous shit prior to meeting her, and she found ANOTHER. Finally at around age 45, she realized it was a fucked up way of living and straightened up.

It isn't the guy, it is the woman. If you get rid of the guy, she will find another one. If you make the guy stop, she will find another one. It is something in some women that makes them crave the extremes in the relationship. Some women are fucked up like that.

You did it wrong if THEY went back to your sister. I would be willing to bet if you added plastic sheets, a shovel and a roll of Duct Tape laying nearby they would get the hint. To better reinforce the "prop" there needs to be a clump of dirt on the shovel.
