150k on my 99 5.0 explorer and it runs brand new. Love this truck. Only issue at all is the back driver side door's lock gets stuck. I change oil when it shows 20% on its little oil life readout. Mobil 1 bishes!

It eventually got to the point where it never had oil pressure and the lifters clattered something fierce. We tried, for months, to blow it up so the owner would have to get us something newer. I drove it from south Grand Prairie to the Delta terminal at DFW and back in the middle of the summer with it clattering the whole way. When we finally tore the motor down there was so much sludge in the pan (you could stand a heavy screwdriver in it) that the pick-up was completely covered. I have no idea how that thing didn’t lock up.
Walmart in Greenville changed the oil in it and I drove it to Plano to build a supercenter. They forgot to put in the drain plug and it made it all the way off 121 before it started screaming. I put a new plug in and filled it up with oil and kept driving it.

Hell, it drove 70mph down 224 from Greenville to Commerce with flames shooting out from under the hood for almost 10 miles before the idiot exgf pulled over (read: someone ran her off the road because the truck was ON FIRE).

Those 5.0 explorers are bullet proof. There are many out there still kicking for cheap. I own two, with a combined 460k miles, and they don't miss a beat. I even yanked the whole engine/drivetrain out of one to put in my Ranger. Should go another 200k.

I've got a German car, and will replace it with another. The next American car I will own will be the 67' convertible firebird that my grandfather bought new.

I have an 00 expy 5.4 that's got 265k on the clock. Runs perfect Everytime I start it. In the 2.5 years I have had it, the only complaint or issue is the heater.

My 01 tacoma is at 165k and has only let me down once. The timing belt went around 130k. That's about 40k miles over the specs for that.

And to 03trublu, why would I take on a car payment when my 13 year old vehicle runs perfectly, has little to no blemish and is comfortable as hell? Why take on a payment or throw down tons of cash when this $3200 vehicle does everything I need and still looks good?

why take on a car payment when you have a perfectly good running car huh? try telling my old lady that shit. the family car was reliable, once it was fixed, but she insisted we get a new car since the impala is 7yrs old! omg! 7yrs old!7!!!

I really dont think 100K is a realistic benchmark anymore as long as you are at least half ass about general maintenance. I have a 99 Tacoma 4wd v6 with 260,000 that runs and drives like a champ. Has had one timing belt change at 140K but that was just out of sheer guilt.

...of course now that I've talked about it, Im sure something will break

Rolls Royce or bust. It really is mind blowing that some people would, by choice, drive anything different.
