So after my last annual physical my doctor called me and said she was going to give me an SSRI since I mentioned a lot of stress with work.

I've been taking them since Monday. I started on 20mg but 2 nights in a row I couldn't sleep and felt like I was coming up on phenethylamines so I dropped to 10mg. Yesterday was fine, but last night I woke up 3-4 times and jumped out of bed wide awake panicking/tripping.

I'm usually a deep sleeper and never, ever wake up in the night. I mean seriously, I've slept through locked out room mates trying to break in before. Also haven't been able to work much this week, normally a 10 hour session is easy for me.

Have you taken an SSRI? How long did your side effects last? Worth it?

I've taken Zoloft and when I would start it I would have insomnia for about a week, then it's fine. Start taking it at night (if you don't already) and it seemed to help.

Have you called your Dr. to see what he says? I'd do that first.

SSRIs effect people in different ways, some good, some bad. I'm not Dr. (I just play one of TV), but would suggest taking the prescribed amount (unless Dr. says otherwise) and sticking through the sleep issue for at least another week or so and see what happens.

I occasionally take lexapro every few years. It generally takes at least a week sometimes longer for the initial side effects of to wear off. If you start thinking suicide or other fucked up shit that's not normal that's when you tell your doc. Give it time for the chemicals in your brain to adjust, cut back on the caffeine, and try to keep a steady dosage cycle( take pills at the same time every time)

Dont be a baby and just deal with the stress. You don't need meds. Some doctors are prescription happy.

On Zoloft I had knee pain so bad I couldn't walk down a ramp, on Celexa it was hip pain. They both caused digestive problems and the biggest problem was decreased sexual performance. It gives you the nerves to go hoggin but then you can't do anything once they meet you in the parking lot.

Seriously though, look at what's causing the axiety and stress in your life and address it. In my case it wasn't really as big of a deal as I thought it was.

As already said, after a week, it gets better. Work on the stress and let these help you get through it. Get off of it as soon as you can.
In the mean time, take the celexa & some boner pills, crush them up, snort them, and go buck wild.

I've kept taking them. My doctor might be a tad prescription happy.

I'll probably just take them for 3-4 months. The side effects for me have been a BITCH though. I don't like it. I've done my fair share of drugs in the past, so I can safely say this isn't the fun kind of drugged feeling.
