Warning to you guys the first time I offered the bed liners on here I was using upol raptor. It works great if prepped really well and if it's being used for really light use ie: coating floors on Resto jobs or as a sort of sound dampener. But if its on a truck bed that will see normal to heavy use forget about it. You need to lay on 2 or 3 even coats for it to really hold up.
Velox is what we spray and ive had nothing but excellent reviews on it for the past year and a half. That stuff I posted earlier in the thread is very similar just branded with ryno liner labels.
So if you need something for very very light to no use and will be covered by say carpet use upol raptor.
If you need normal to heavy use ie: hauling motors, washing machines or tools that can scratch paint use a 100% solids product.

Please PM me your contact information. How long of a wait is it to get into your shop? How much to do a Ford F-150 Supercrew with the 5.6foot bed?

      Thanks...

BTW guys, the Line-x guys finally called. They charge $500 for their basic lining and another $150 for their "premium" stuff that is supposedly UV resistant. He said they were running a special that takes $50 off that for a total of $600..

I still haven't heard back from Camoliner...

Raptor's instruction manual says to use 2 coats at minimum, 3 preferably, so it seems your opinion of it is if you don't follow directions and apply insufficient coats. I've smashed the SHIT out of my mine (left 2 axles in the back of the jeep bang around for months) and it never did any damage. I have 50lb buckets of brass back there, guns/ammo cans banging around, and a 60lb tool box back there all the time and I've never had any problems. Velox is a great lining also, but I didn't think it was available in kits, you had to take it to a shop and it's much more expensive. It is important as you mentioned to prep your metal very well. They give you a red scotchbrite, but I would recommend hitting it with 80 grit after the scotch pad.

My friend did herculiner with a gun on his Jeep CJ6 (earlier scrambler) and it was perfect looking. I rolled mine on and it sucked.

I would spray it on myself. If you don't have the tools, pay someone to do it.

You are correct you have to apply 2 or 3 coats minimum but we still found you have to be very careful with it even then. It's isn't very slip resistant either so whenever you spray the top coat everyone needs to make sure it's very textured and not smooth because it's dries hard like a plastic drop in bed liner and doesn't absord impact very well. The product is great as far as one for the cheaper DIY kits. I by far like it better than gator guard or any of the auto parts stores kits.
Just my experience with the product hope this helps all those DIY guys.

What are your guys opinion on the herculiner kits? I have a gun to spray it with. Looking to do the bed of my 85 chevy. I have a spare tire that is always in there, sometimes i haul motors, cylinder heads, brush, random engine parts, etc. looking for something affordable that wont scratch up and last for a while..

The least quality of the do it yourself kits.

ok, I checked into the upol raptor stuff you had mentioned earlier, but from what i found it scratches pretty easy.. kinda torn right now. also looking at the sem pro-tex kits. thus far they seem to have really good results. i use my truck as a truck about 30-40% of the time but right now cannot afford a line-x right now. was quoted around $600..

Anyone used the Gator guard kits? They only cost about $60, are a two part system. Thinking maybe 2 kits which will net a thicker coat...

It's all in the prep. I've seen really thick liners (I had a rhino liner in my F100) pop right off. It's all in the prep.

Yeah, true. One guy brought up that he used the gator guard kit, then just put a rubber mat down for the protection. That is a good thought and would cost me less then $200 to do.. And should look pretty good.. Not in a hurry just tossing some ideas around. This weekend is my b-day and the wife is bugging me about what I want.

I've had a rubber bed mat in the last 4 trucks, I won't ever not have one again. You can throw stuff in a it won't dent the bed and it keeps stuff from sliding around, which my last truck, even with a spray in line x, still did.

Rubber bed mat is the way to go.
