Who else's company insist on giving out stupid trinkets. I know it's the thought that matters and the crap probably cost the company alot of money, but come on. The employee's have no need for the crap and most don't want it aside from a ball cap. So far this year I've gotten a cooler, some thick ass crystal that has a locomotive engraved on the inside, a jacket which they handed out in april lol, two maglites, back pack, duffle bag, and just recently a 150th anniversary copper coin. Of course all the stuff has the railroad logos blasted all over it so I have no need for it. I end up giving most the stuff away to rail nuts and they flip out over it thinking it's the greatest stuff in the world. The only thing I want with the railroad logo on it is the paycheck.
I had a conversation with a manager yesterday and he asked if I'd gotten the newest gift aka copper coin and I just rolled my eyes. I informed him that as of yesterday 50 of them were already on ebay and the over supply is driving down the price. He thought I was joking till he looked it up himself. He thought it was in bad taste to sell the stuff the company gives us. I just laughed some more. He then asked what I thought would be a good gift to celebrate 150 years. I told him if it was up to me and if the company really wanted to do something cool and nice they should issue one share of company stock to each employee and have it framed. He thought that would be a great idea and claimed he'd bring it up at the next metting. I'm not holding my breath though.
