The constitution does not dictate that we spend xxxbillion on defense. I'm not against cutting a lot of other programs as well. Especially the shitty welfare system, but defense needs to shed some fat as well. We are in a shitty financial situation...were ALL gonna have to work to get out of it.
This is the biggest waste of tax dollars I see in the military and at every defense contractor I know. When you hear these same morons complain about how high their taxes are. Everyone wants someone else to cut, but don't touch their slice.

Sorry, I've got to go get some blood pressure medication, before I stroke out.

The discussion for cutting defense spending should remain closed, lke already stated, until welfare and other "handouts" are done away with or reformed. Nothing is going to run perfect, and having to spend an entire budget if not needed is rediculous. But, There is a reason why we have a superior military and it is worth the cost and freedom. Seems like most of yall dont remeber what Carter did to decimate our forces. Fuck that guy.

You do realize other programs are facing cuts as well right? This isn't just defense. It's just that defense companies have more lobbying power.

1/2 of the cuts are coming from defense. Half. Defense accounts for less than half of our spending at the moment. Gut everything else. And I'm willing to trashbin the Osprey.

You can't please everyone all the time. However, I think we can ALL agree the Gov. needs to quit spending. EVERYWHERE. That's the problem. They are going after sequestration as an "easy" target and using it like a carpet bombing/nuclear strike and with out care loping off the head of everything in it's path. This is NOT a successful strategy. What is needed is a LEADER out of the White House to LEAD his/her people in the just direction. This, IMHO, is the biggest problem. No leadership, all showmanship. No conviction but always the pacifistic. Anyway, yet I digress. Argue all you want about what should/should not be cut. But you can't argue the fact that THIS way of cutting things is just wrong.

It is the wrong way to do it but the old people of my lifetime aren't capable of much more it seems. I'm saying this in part to generate responses and get perspectives but I also feel this way a little.

You always hear "kids these days...", but what about the old people that REALLY got us here?

The old politicians who cannot make a decision to save the country.

The old managers who won't take decisive action for fear of making the wrong choice.

The corrupt business leaders and financial types who sent us into a near depression.

The old engineers that are so set on doing things the way they've always been done nearly halting progress.

The old people that complain about the kids they raised, taught, neglected...etc.

Kids these days .... They learn from their Elders!!!!
                Old Politicians.... TERM LIMITS!!!!!!
Old Managers .... Get company backing with a PLAN and an alternative
Corruption..... The issue here is that most believe it can be eradicated. It can NOT. It can be mitigated, but only with a very strong Leader and a PLAN! (Hope is NOT a strategy)

Old Engineers ..... They are usually right. BUT, they fear change, as we all do. Educate them that their jobs are not going away but that they will need to learn new skills. Get them to be as passionate about CNC as they were about their first lathe project and show them that NOTHING will ever completely replace the human eye, feel, intuition, etc.

Old people.... I have no solution for the sins of their Fathers. This is counseling stuff. N

We do...and it should never have cost what it did.
