I give props to Chief Brown for making sure we all understand the facts...even "dumbing-it-down" as to why/how things went down. It never occurred to me how much they need to protect their gun/fight with one arm basically.

that was my initial thought too but after the description of the pursuit the officers was in fear of loosing his life so I'd say its justified.

Basically just said it as plain as day. "we can't lose a fight with a gun on our hip. Because if we do, it gets used on us." So when you try to fight the police, you get shot. Sounds like it is pretty straight forward to me!

He also asked anyone who might have seen it to call DPD. My guess is that there will be about 5,000 calls from people who witnessed him trying to give up and definitely not trying to fight.
