what are the benefits of a dry county in texas

I'm writing a position paper on dry and wet countys. I cant really think any good things about a living in a dry county. Can some of you guys think of some ideas on the benefits of living in a dry county in Texas?

One benefit is that all the tax dollars that would have gone to the dry county go to the neighboring wet counties instead. Dry counties are dumb for letting their residents dollars go elsewhere. People are still going to drink even if you don't want them to. Get the revenue and jobs.

There are non tangibles such as appeasing religious people, a sense of betterment, sense if security (although it may be a false sense)...etc

Throw in a bit about legalizing marijuana compare/contrast. Or how about a bit about how it's infinitely safer to drink in a pedestrian town (AKA all of Europe) as opposed to one where you have to drive to every bar (AKA most of USA).

It also seems like restaurants won't build in a dry city if there is a wet city next door such as Allen a while back. I'm not sure if it's still this way but at one point Allen was "semi-wet" in that a restaurant had to have you sign something to join a "club" in order to buy drinks. No gas stations/liquor stores/grocery stores could sell. Attracted a whopping 1 crappy Bar to the town I think...

Possibly a difference in property value for one versus another. I would also look into the growth rate overall, supply and demand of new homes, and commercial development.

Glad im not teh only one who thought the same way. My wife always "feels sorry for them" i told her, if she noticed, they all panhandle next to beet stores. Balchsprings got wet, all the sudden everyone needs a handout.

Yeah, not kidding. That was the last place that needed to be wet. Like it was really that big of a chore to drive to 2nd Ave. The roads still suck. I don't see what the money from the b&w sales bought.

Roanoke must be considered flooded then. We have 3 liquor stores within a mile of each other and those are the ones I have noticed while driving to and from the store..

...and just think, those have only popped up since last year. Before then they could only sell beer/wine in Roanoke. If you want to see some real trash just go into that Walmart...all that old Marshall Creek trash.

They just voted in Justin last year as well, and we've had 2 liquor stores pop-up already...for a town of ~3000 people.

Rockwall went wet a few years back. Can't say that I have seen any changes what so ever. Well except the Mobile City/Chilly Mart monopoly folded and shut down....

Can you pick sides or are you supposed to highlight both sides? So far, the only real pro we have is that there might be less hobos, and the ones that do stick around would have to drink listerine for their buzz.

i grew up in Rockwall, that Chilly Mart use to get so packed on the weekends.
