Yeah I also agree with that, but I think the drag coefficient might have played into it. The flex is a really long son of a bitch - you think of them as small, but they are deceivingly large. I saw a flex 3.5 run a 13.9 at ennis when they first came out, I couldn't fucking believe it.

I have a 2011 EB FX2 crewcab and it currently has 18k miles on it. I drive mostly city and average between 17-17.5 mpg, but when my wife drives it she averages 14.5-15.5 mpg. Its all about how you drive it, just like any other car. Last week coming back from Corpus Christi I got 21mpg and when pulling my 18ft steel car trailer with a mustang on it I get 14-14.5 mpg.
      Current rides:
      1973 Camaro 350/350
      1991 GMC Sierra Stepside
      2012 Gt500
      2006 Dodge MegaCab 5.9 cummins

I would love for my Edge to have the TT V6 but the 4 cylinder does the job quite well. I heard they also put the 4 cylinder in the Explorer and it's a bit of a turd. I've never driven one though.

Update: I drove to East texas today (about 300 miles round trip) mainly highway and about 65-70 MPH and I got 26 MPG according to the display which is fairly accurate.

The new '13 Explorer Sport will have the same 3.5L Twin Turbo's that comes in the F150.

            That's a smart move on Ford's part!

That 1/4 mile time is impressive. Wonder if it was stock?

I have no idea, but I've seen a few people claim 13's on stock flex's.

                  Like this guy:

Another apparent stocker running a 14.15

It seems plausible with ambient temperature to break off a high 13 stock. That's quick.

Another apparently stock Flex in the 13's:

I hear that do not offer it with the 4WD Explorer though which is to bad.

You have that backwards. It ONLY comes with 4WD.

The way I understand it is they are more of an AWD type drive, FWD until certain parameters are met the a wet clutch is engage to give power to rear.

                        • These guys are pretty good with the eco-boost motors. They have a tuned eco-boost truck vs stock video.

                          Not bad!!

                          • That Flex is moving! They are pretty damn quick in stock form too. It's going to take a lot more to get a full size f-150 to move that quick though. An ecoboost f-150 is 800 lbs or so heavier.

Yea, you're correct about that. They just call it 4WD with a "Terrain Management System". I've read that it is fairly good, but it obviously isn't for hard offroading..
