Please share your knowledge with us. My knowledge is that my previous dodge truck (99 1500 4x4 5.9l V8) lasted until 230k miles. Still going when I traded it in.
My last Ford (2008 Lariat crew 4x4 5.4L) was always needing me to fix something on it. I sold it at 78k miles.
My current truck 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with the hemi is at 100k miles now. I bought it at 78k and like I said my only issue is I noticed a small leak from the left front strut at about 90k miles. I bought one from another truck for $20 bucks and swapped it out. No other issues.
So please tell us what he should expect to find if he keeps it to 100k miles. Also with Ram you get 100k mile warranty. The Hemi motors have been around for a while and have proven themselves. Ram makes a hell of a truck now. Most people that talk bad about Dodge have never owned one and if they have it was back in the 90's.

I just bought a 2012 F150 FX2 with the ecoboost. I love the power this truck has and I got the optional 20" wheels/tires. I have only had it for a little over a week now. I do a bunch of highway and city driving. So far I am getting a combined 18mpg. I drove it from home to work which is 52 miles one way and got almost 24mpg at 70mph.2012 Mustang GT

I was looking at Ecoboost F-150s since I drive about 30k miles a year. But until my V8 Dodge Dakota starts having problems I will stick with the 21mpg I get now. I will wait until I can get a 4x4 that can get over 25mpg before I trade mine. No car payment rocks.

Again, post up your personal experience with the new platform, or you're talking out of your ass. I'd be willing to bet you have none, and have never even owne a Ram.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

My Dad had a bad experience with a Dodge van 20+ years ago. I'd say that no longer applies, either, considering his last 3 trucks have been Rams. 06, 11, and 12.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

My dad owns a 2005 Ram 1500 quad cab with the 4.7L in it. He bought it new and it now has 120,000 miles on it. Considering that it sits in the driveway Monday through Friday and mainly gets used on the weekend just to tow, I'd say it's holding up pretty good. I've had to replace a few things on it, but everything has been easy to do (water pump, shocks, brakes, wheel bearings) except for the ball joints. I had someone else do those. My dad uses it to tow his 19' RV mostly but occasionally it gets hitched to a 16' car hauler with some kind of vehicle on board. I've used it to tow a 19' flat bed trailer with 4 ATVs on it. Cruising at 75 mph to keep up with the rest of my friends it got 11 mpg.
However, on several occasions it has gotten 20 mpg on the highway (hand calculated) and I've gotten almost 22 mpg once. Most of the time when my dad drives it with mixed driving it gets 17-18 mpg. It's been a great truck considering the abuse it has seen.Annoying people, one post at a time!

I miss my Ecoboost, but my Chevy can take a beating. I take it out in the field (rig sites), off road most of the time to see customers, etc and it hasn't let me down once. Its already got 50k of hard driven miles and its not even a year old. Has only had the oil changes and air filters too. I have really been impressed with Chevy by it.

I've loved every Chevy I've had. I miss my 04 3/4 ton. A friend of mine bought a '10 Chevy, but it's the 4.something, and it's a gutless turd. I don't like his interior, either. The seats, mainly. Perhaps it's just the trim he has... I don't know if it's supposed to be leather or what, but the black has work trough and is neon pink in several areas.
Another buddy has an 08 f-150, and the ride is rough as shit and has been since he got it.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

My only complaint is here in PA, going up and down hills/curves its constantly downshifting to catch good speed. With my Ecoboost, all it did was spool up and kept the same gear. It's a slow pig as well, 5.3 sucks ass.
