That sounds about right. I run 10k intervals with mobil 1. I usually have to add at least two quarts between changes. Not sure if its true but the guy at oil change place said it burns off due to the heat.

So far the only oil I can find is mobil 1 at napa that's the parts place we use. We change oil for a fleet company that has a whole new fleet of chevy trucks. I would hope a gm dealer is using the right oil as I would bet to warranty a motor through gm now they will want an oil sample to prove it's dexos approved oil and if not and they decline and they were the last ones to change the oil a stealer will be out the money for a motor and a lot more.

My M5 used 10w60 (special order castrol $10.63/liter from Classic after online discount)... and it took 7+liters. Of course it didn't burn any oil either.

Castrol 5-30 synthetic is dexos approved. That's what I install in new chevy's when they come in for a oil change

See this for all the approved Dexos1 oils.

When I had my truck changed, the only thing my sticker or ticket said was "Mobil dexos1" for the grade. Which if you look closely, isn't actually a grade, nor was it written anywhere they used synthetic.
