  • Anyone here ride atv's?

Looking for some new places to ride atv's. Lately we have been going out in groups and starting around 8-9pm and trail/creek riding for around 4 hours. Its pretty fun and was just wondering if anyone here was into the same stuff.

I used to ride out at Rocky Ridge in Decatur and up at the Red River

Check the motorcycle forum. There's a great thread near the top of this page discussing this very topic.

      Go figure.

I go riding out at my dads farm.... 158 acres in Cooper, Tx. about a hour and half drive from Dallas. Nothing but swamps and trails, love it.

Where are you located, there's a place in Crowley/Burleson that I got to that's not bad.

I am south of the metroplex. Burleson is not far at all. Where is it?

It's a pretty good ways out, but I've heard that Barnwell Mountain out in East Texas (near Gilmer) is really cool....would be great for a weekend trip. You can also find places and reviews here - http://www.txmud.com/

If you are ever looking for a great trip to make, I can't say enough about ATV riding in southern Colorado....we try to go for at least a week every year. The best areas we've found are all centered around South Fork...up north to around Creede and all the way up to around Lake City. Out East to around Del Norte, and out West to around Pagosa Srpings. There are a lot of old abandoned mining towns (Ghost towns) that you can go explore, as well as some great trails....from very easy to very technical. Some of the cooler trail areas that come to mind are Summitville, Pool Table, Blowout Pass, Animas Fork, Wagon Wheel, etc. All you have to do is hit a visitor center and get a couple maps....just make sure you have plenty of fuel!

I like the 4 wheel drive machines myself.. You should b able to find a Honda or Yamaha pretty cheap. I have owned both types and they are tuff.

Trail riding is dirt cheap. You can get a 250cc Ozark or Recon for $1500 and ride with a helmet and goggles and have a blast. Or spend a little more for a 400cc sport quad, then a little more for a 450cc or go all out for a 700-800cc sport quad or big 4x4.

depends on what you want to do other than trail ride like if you want to hunt then your looking for a utility but if your looking at possibly doing a few jumps and such then you would want a sport quad I rode a 03 suzuki z400 and it did everything I asked of it depending on what you have to spend they have some with everything from push button shifter and 4x4 to independent rear suspension
