MESQUITE — The new Air Jordans went on sale Thursday morning, and long lines weren't the only problem for shoppers.
"It's almost like you weren't sure you were going to get trampled or what," said Crystal Browning, who was in line for the debut of the $175 Air Jordan 11 Retro design at Town East Mall in Mesquite.
The center's general manager said a crowd outside the shopping mall at 6 a.m. started to rush one of the entrances. There was shoving and some shattered glass, and at one point a child was being pushed against the doors.
Police officers on duty said they had to take action, and they deployed pepper spray to restore order.
"They were actually holding their hands up spraying across the crowd," Browning said.
Town East Mall said it was reviewing its procedures for the introduction of popular products.
"It was not handled right," Browning said. "It should have been more organized."
Shoppers also lined up for Air Jordans at other North Texas shopping centers, but no incidents were reported.

The pictured shoes aren't new, but a re-issue. Last I knew, they were the most popular Jordan product of all time, and people will pay a LOT of money for the OGs in primo condition. I have a pair in all black, that I've had for a decade and have never worn outside of the gym, I could still probably sell them for close to $200.

Fuck yeah Mesquite!
It wasn't handled right? If people could fucking control themselves, get in a fucking line, and realize that not being the first person with a pair of shoes isn't the end of the world, shit wouldn't have to be handled that way. The same assholes that are spending $175 on a pair of shoes are the ones who stampeded when that school district gave away those computers a couple of years ago. Get your goddamned priorities straight.

It would have been the fly-est stampede ever if they the new Jordans!
