  • Ford dealer recommendation (recall)

Which dealer in DFW is the one to go to? My grandparents never did the cruise control recall on their 03 Ranger and they received a letter about it yesterday.

They never thought anything about it until I mentioned how many Ford truck fires Ive dealt with at work and how important it is to get it done. TIA

Take it anywhere, it's a 30 second fix (plus however long it takes for a tech to actually get to it), even if they have to replace a leaking one it only takes a couple minutes.

Yup. It takes longer for the tech to walk to the parts department to get the replacement harness than it does to actually replace it.

If it were just the recall that the techs had to do it wouldn't be horrible. Oil changes only pay .3 and take a lot longer. It's filling out multi-point inspection cards that takes all the time. Chances are that if somebody brings in a 1990 ford ranger that has no history of being in service over the last 2 years, they're not going to approve any other repairs that are recommended. You also gotta love when a couple of weeks later with the engine light on saying everything was fine before the recall and now it runs like shit even though that little jumper harness has nothing to do with how a vehicle runs. One of the many reasons I quit writing service.

Yep, I was at Ford in Burleson for a little over 5 years working in the shop before I finally quit last December and started my new job. The recalls I hated most were the fuel tank stopper brackets on the diesels and the brake booster hose on the F150's. People would bring their shit in and want to wait on it, I know it's not their fault their vehicle had a recall, but no one I know wants to reach their arm up next to an engine that's hot as fuck to replace a little hose. We all tried to avoid those!

Easy fix. Tell The service writer hope they get comfy. put fan under truck, go work on something else for for a hour.

Wait until they want to wait on the new rear axle recall on Windstars.....

Yeah, after dealing with multiple ones each day we had the writer's tell them to drop it off or that it would be a long wait. I think most people understood after it was explained to them.

Never told them any less than 2 hours. Once they heard that their brakes could very well stop working, they were more than happy to leave it. I've only seen one where the hose actually broke.

This thread makes me glad I don't work at Skyline Ford anymore, and even more glad that I didn't work there when it became Rodeo Ford.
