I guess it comes down to this. If i stick it out another year i roll the dice i think on my marriage. It will suck financially if i move home now and will just have to bust ass in other ways but id feel like id have a quicker route to fixing things if that makes sense.

The debt thing changed my opinion for a minute, until I read this. I didn't realize your marriage was in this bad of shape, although obviously being gone will put a strain on most any marriage. I'm sorry to hear that.

Stay another year. Try to get your family up there one weekend a month. Make things work the best you can for a year and then come back home.

You say that your marriage may not make it a year. What if you come home and she still decides that it isn't going to work? You're left with all that debt, trying to pay off $80k on a $45k-$55k salary. That's a house payment for you and you won't be able to afford a decent apartment to even live in and bring your kids to. Treat your woman right, send her flowers, fly them out to see you, and get that debt paid off.

Working on the road for long stays is one of the hardest things i've had to do in recent memory. I can't imagine doing so with a wife and kids at home.

For the numbers you've quoted, i don't think it's worth it. i think you should stick it out a little longer while looking for something in the middle, maybe a 70-80k/yr job that has 10-20% travel, if any, but keeps you home the majority of the time.
