I admire your tenacity. You didn't stop at $25,000 and say "we have a problem" no....you said "Let's cause Dave Ramsey's heart to fucking explode" and you powered your way to 14% of $1,000,000 in borrowed money at high interest.

I love working for Txdot. Money isnt totally what I want but hell the benifits arent half bad. Im able to carry my wife and son (step kids on there dads insurance). But I guess the best perk that I really like about txdot is the fact I get vacation time, sick time, flsa and comp time, which in turn means I can take off pretty much when ever I want.

Id love to take another job making more money of course but at the possiblity of being away more from all three of my kids. I rather live how I am and spend time with them and be close to help my wife like I am today. Lil man got 4 shots yesterday and is a grumpy lil guy. Im at home with him asleep on my chest right now.

Now after hes a tad older. Im going to look for another line of work to try and pay off our debt and live a little better. But for now the time with them is more rewarding than a hefty ass pay check.

I wouldnt roll out of my fucking bed for 45k....

Keep your high paying job until you're out of debt 100% and then consider taking a 10-20% cut to come home. Seriously, fuck cutting your pay by 2/3, kids aren't all that fun anyway.

                  Lmao^^

Interestingly, I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I'm in the final stages of securing an offer from a competitor here in SF. I don't intend to leave, I'm just gaining leverage to get my bonus guaranteed. Wouldn't you know, right when I get close to securing the deal and - potentially - getting a bonus guarantee, I get a call from a shop in Dallas about a job. The job in Dallas is for a slightly lower base too and I'd be giving up this bonus I just worked to secure. So, you could say, in my case I'd be willing to forego about $100k this year to get back to Dallas. Yes, this place sucks that badly and I miss our friends, family, and DFW that much.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

My wife....who was my girlfriend at the time....had an excellent job that she got right as we started dating. We knew right off the bat that we had a connection and we wanted to be closer. She was on an oil rig far away and would only be able to see her kid and I a week after 28 days. I told her to quit her job. I said "money is one thing.....i have made PLENTY of money while sacrificing my family and I do not want you to do the same." I told her she could find another job and I would foot the bill because family comes first.

Bro, I could easily make $150,000 a year.....think about that......$150,000 a year by sitting on my ass on a barge. But, I would NEVER see my family. i would live on a barge. Money is not everything. money is LITERALLY the root of all evil. You can get by on less and being with your children is absolutely PRICELESS. Do what FEELS right to you. Do what that feeling in your gut tells you to do. I guarantee if you do that, you will not go wrong.

I watch these knuckleheads every day busting their asses to make that allmighty dollar while missing out on what is really important. Seeing that beautiful little face of your child smile at you every day is worth more than any dollar value.

Little late now, but if that bad just in credit cards - I probably would've wussed out and done bankruptcy.

Knowing that little detail, I don't know. Seems like marriage is screwed one way, but staying home it still maybe screwed due to debt. Then you still have the debt.

It's the "love of money" that is the root of all evil, not "money" itself.
