  • Mother Freakin Mono Vision

So I went to the eye Dr. this morning cause a layer of some shit pilled off the back side of my glasses. Now of course its a 1 year warranty and I am fuckin 2 weeks past it. You'd think they would fix my glasses, but nooooo.

So I say, "hey Doc. How about fixin me up with contacts"?. This is where I find I have a astigmatism. Now he hits me up with mono vision contacts. You know, see close with one and distance with the other. I'm in a trial pair right now and I hate the SOB's. Now I can move up to these other contacts, (progressive or something like that) that allowes me to see with both eyes the same, but they are more than twice the price.

Long story short...School me on your experance on the 2 different contacts. I dont think I'm gonna like the mono's. Everything is blurry as hell unless its really close.

Not sure if I could do monos like that, although, as with anything it is likely your eyes will adjust to it after some use. If everything is blurry except up close then it sounds like that is your dominant eye. Doctors will sometimes throw a patch over that eye for while to strengthen the other.

I had eye surgery that replaced my lenses (similar to cataract surgery). I now have permanent mono vision....you really will get used to it. It just takes a bit to adjust

greateyeglasses.com (better quality in my experience than zenni). Buy some cheap ones to have at home.

I've got an astigmatism and am nearsighted. I don't have to wear the mono lenses (that would suck ass and drive me craaaazyy), but I do have to wear the toric weighted lenses. They're uncomfortable, so I only wear them when I really need it (basketball, skiing, etc.).

I'd love lasik, but that shits scary.

I had it done 7 years ago and am still VERY happy with that choice. Of course, I don't have an astigmatism, so not sure how that impacts lasik.

              I'd be curious of this.

I have astigmatism but I haven't worn glasses since I was 17. I just wing it.

I had astigmatism in both eyes, one worse than the other and had lasik about 8-9 years ago. I have noticed that my eyes are getting worse when it comes to long distance, reading signs, and halos at night.

I've worn a few people's glasses, very mild prescription while driving, and noticed all of the things I mentioned above were improved with them.

I have to admit that I like these better than glasses. Expecially since I work outside a lot. The constant wipping of sweat off the glass is a pain in itself.

I just got back from doing a bid on a paint job. Writing on a tablet is by far the worst side effect so far. I felt as though something was in the way of my right eye and my hand looked in the wrong place.

Oh boy, this next week is gonna be fun.

I had the mono vision contacts once and never liked them. Went back to distance correction only (my doctor outdid himself this time - 20/13 vision) and regretfully have to use reading glasses for close-up work.

<-----worn contacts since 1977, Jimmy Carter was POTUS then, lol

I guess no one here has had the progressive contacts yet? Doc said that it would run about 600 a year for them.

Progressive glasses are about 300 depending on the frame....my 8 year old has to wear them......it sucks.......So I guess 600 for contacts isn't that out of line in the overwhelming price department........

Yeah, I have been wearing them for years now. They are just a pain to work in. Expecially outside work.

This is my 2nd day to wear the short eye long eye contacts. I always feel like I'm half blind. I really want 2 good eyes to see up close and far. Prolly end up with the progressive contacts.

It took me a bit to get used to the mono vision....like a month or so. But with permanent lenses, I kinda didn't have a choice. It makes doing things interesting...like shooting....
