Wife thought it was from the hospital bed and the way she was sleeping, but it is getting worse and worse. Thought id ask here. We had a massage specialist come and try and treat it today, she is trying Icy/Hot pads and the pain she says is almost unbearable. It is like the worst crick you could imagine. She cannot hardly turn her head and it is giving her an intense headache. Symptoms of anything? She has the highest pain tolerance of anyone I know so I know it must be painful. Any other home rememdies? Sound like anything familiar? If it gets worse I guess its time to go to the doctor.

Is the stiff neck accompanied with fever and overly sensitive to lights? If yes, she needs to see a Dr. She may just be severely dehydrated due to her recent ailment. For kinks like that, Advil and a heating pad is a good starting point.

I had to go to the ER last Sunday with intense neck pain. It seemed to stem from the base of my skull. It seemed swollen and I couldn't move my head left, right, up or down without INTENSE pain. It did cause a migraine, too. They said my lymph nodes in my neck were swollen from an infection and gave me antibiotics/pain medicine to help it go down. Once they went down, the pain went away. Wonder if maybe that's it since she's been really sick.Token Split Tail

Thanks for the info. Last night was the worst. She went to the doctor yesterday and he diagnosed a severe neck crick from the extended hospital stay. So ladt night she took 2 valium and 2 muscle relaxers and it did nothing for her.
She keeps asking me to press as hard as i can with my finger on the back side of her head. She can barely turn her neck from side to side. She also asks me to run my knuckles in a straight line down from that point on her head, down her neck to a point on her right trap.
Ive never seen her cry so much in my life so i know the pain is intense. Do i take her back to the hospital? Or do i find a specialist, and if so what kind? She thought about a chiropractor but that sounds like way beyond a chiro.
