Cost of living is about 33% higher than where I live in East Texas, but I don't foresee paying for all the conveniences that we pay for now, so I would say 33% is a bit high.

Living conditions are considerably more simplistic than the average DFW (Garland, Oak Cliff, Greenville excluded). I've heard that St. Croix is the whiter side of the islands and the recent layoffs will have properties going for cheap. We will likely end up in St. Thomas where we have more friends.

Women are plentiful!!! There is a fresh batch with every cruise ship!

hmmmmm I'm looking into that now. $15,000/yr cost of living. Good beaches. Don't have to learn another language. Nice lookin ladies.... thanks for the heads up!

So many choices so close (relatively) to the U.S.... I might have to scratch the phillipines of my list...

Heck, Talk about simplistic, as long as I've got a hut on the beach I don't even need a/c or any of that. Just get me a charter boat and give tours and go fish, and have spendin money for a night of partyin' and enough room to take a lady back to and I'm set.

Here are some pics of Belize, to give you an idea of what to expect. I have considered retiring there.

Here are some pics of the NICE areas of Belize.

            Houses on the coast:

Police that sits in front of the President's house:

Well known drug dealer's place on the coast:

Your local NAPA for your mustang parts:

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler

I've done a bit of looking, and it is at the forefront of my short list of countries I'd consider relocating too. It would be pretty hard to get me out of DFW, because this area has so much to offer. But every once in awhile those beaches call to me.

I wonder if that Napa is hiring? Maybe Jimmy can put in a good word for me.

You guys stop cluttering up the thread; I need the good officer to come in and explain the mechanics of pension accounting to me.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Trust me on this, when you get away and turn down all the noise that DFW has to offer you have time to think and slow down. Coming back has been quite a shock to the system, as have the hoards of shitty drivers.

LOL, once you get there and meet a couple more Americans mention this site and see how many people took the idea, sounds great to me and I have been looking for a nice country to retire to.

Hell, get in a position now to eliminate any debt and once all family is pretty much gone other than your current generation, LEAVE!! lol

It's simple, if you pull over 100 people and beat the shit out of and heavily fine 9 individuals (while ticketing the other 91), you can state with certainty that you've increased the return on investment by 9% and can fund the pension.
