Anyone ever buy from erepairables? Found what I was looking for on there pretty cheap, but it seems a bit convoluted to me. Not sure why I have to use this third party website instead of dealing directly with the lot the car is on. There seems to be an annual fee ($99) and then you bid on the cars online. Anybody in here buy repairable vehicles? I'm just needing one for a parts car, not sure the best way to find one.

I've tried wrecking yards, probably not the right ones. Most won't sell the entire vehicle, and pick-n-pull wants to charge me too much. Especially when I have to rip out the engine and drive train (what I need) myself. It only lists a city for the location of any vehicle. I wonder if I should just start researching yards in that city and try that route. I'm a cash buyer, so this third party, wire transfer, mystery owner shit doesn't jive with me.Comment

The only thing I can figure is this grants you the opportunity to proxy bid. Meaning to can enter the highest your willing to pay, and hope you win. The price showing on the site isnt necessarily the highest bid..... I may be wrong though.Comment

No I think you're right. Read the "terms and conditions" of registering. It explains the process.
Maybe I'll just take a $100 gamble on one I see. It has a "pre bid" option, then the date the auction starts. Confusing to me, but what the hell.Comment

Years ago I used to go to an auction in grapevine I believe it was that was cars that were donated and the proceeds went to schools.... Think it was called kids that can or something. Anyhow, I'd be part of a group of probably 100 guys live ready to bid, then they would say there was an automated bidding as well. I'm guessing something like this. Chances are you'll lose every bid you do, but they got your $100.... I could be wrong though.
Edit: Yep i'm 99% sure this is just a website that does bidding on your behalf, not something like ebay. I found a salvage company just up the street from me with trucks listed on there so its probably legit, but I know for a fact they will let you bid locally as well.
