Hell vets even have access to medical, do Firemen? You wanna save money that bad over all else lets cut those services. Either way your being a dumbass. It would be hilarious to see what alll the ballers on here would do if their wages got cut to minimum wage thru no fault of their own.
Actually that's not true. If you're not service connected, a year after you get out, you get nothing. And the VA will fight you every step of the way. And everytime there's a budget impass, the first people they threaten with no checks are veterans.

Edit: AND you are only treated for free on the things that ARE service connected. Bad back? Tough. You got out because you lost your leg but you're having a hemorage in your head? Well we'll treat you but you're getting a bill.

Really? When I worked at American I worked with a bunch of retired servicemen who got their medical from the VA and theirs weren't service related. That plus their retirement, shopping at the base PX and lots of other benni's. Things might have changed in 7 years but thats what was happening

You REALLY don't want to play this with me. But I'll play along. I live 15 miles from town, the county answers my 911 calls. The last time I called in, it was to report a man in a wheelchair on the side of the road, laying in the grass. They argued that my road wasn't in the county, yet it is. They drive around in brand new Chargers and C2500's. The fire department is volunteer that I pay out of my water bill (it's an added fee.)

Now, brass tacks. They want money, the taxpayers told them no. I am willing to bet their police and fire have new vehicles. Each of those could have paid said workers for a year. So what do you do when the taxpayers are tired of having their taxes go up?

That is the VA policy. I just got my new handbook for next year and that's what it is. Depending on their category (1-5) depends on what they have access to. If you are 90% and higher, you get everything opened up. 60 and lower? Good luck. And they ask if you have any other medical insurance every time you go.

              • You can receive VA hospital and outpatient care for any ailment, service connected or not if you are enrolled in the VA healthcare system, but you may have to pay a copayment. For example, if a Veteran is service-connected for a bad knee, any VA hospital and outpatient care and medication for the knee is free of charge. However, if the same Vet goes into surgery to remove an appendix and it’s not service connected, he may be subject to a co-pay depending on the amount of his disability rating and other factors. Familiarize yourself with co-pay guidelines and rates.

Vantage Point sets some myths to rest in a quick fact sheet about VA Health Care eligibility.

Not arguing that fact, FD vehicles are retarted expensive, and so are many of the stations some cities build. Way overkill. Funds could have been saved most likely in many areas rather than knocking pay to minimum wage. I dont even know what we are arguing at this point.

I'm not sure we are either. Taxpayers have hit the upper limit of what they can pay. If cutting pay and benefits are not the solution, then what is? The theory that the taxpayers are an endless supply of money to hand out in suitcases to public servants has been proven wrong. Tax money has been squandered on hopped up cars that aren't needed, dark tint on vehicles, APCs and military equipment by police, and so forth.

They won't curb their spending so something has to give. It was presented to the payers and they said no. Solution?

It might be just me, but I'd quit and go find another job. Maybe this is one of those trick questions I've heard so much about.

The average cop in Scranton was making $26 an hour ? That aint exactly millionaire territory there...50k a year before taxes, insurance, ss. It's a living, but if you haven't checked the cost of living in PA, it aint cheap...

How do you figure they're all "schmucks"? You can't tell me there's not one decent cop, firefighter, or dog catcher working in Scranton. You paint with a broad brush way too often...You should get out more. There really are some decent people in this world...

I didn't say there wasn't. Schmucks is one of those words I use when someone hasn't rated anything harsher. It's right above "that dude" and below 'bastard'. 50k a year isn't much, now, how much are their pensions, benefits, and cars? How much fuel do they waste sitting in a parking lot running the car with the AC blasting in their face?

And you wouldn't be pissed and gripe and moan on here about how you got screwed over by the company? You would just calmly say *ok you can have my money I'll just forget about any senority/ benifits vacation ect I've earned* They can keep on mismanaging and you won't care at all??? YEAH RIGHT that sure fits the personality you try to portray on this board!

Of course I'd bitch. And then likely find something better and be thankful that it happened to begin with. Losing a job is not the end of the world. We all exchange "getting screwed by the company" daily for our checks. Don't like the particular screwing you signed up for? Find another job like Al said.
