        The Sewell guys are pretty dumb (having bought and sold three cars there now). You really have to get after them to make sure that they don't foul it up.

          We bought a car in TN from a dealer. We just paid the price of the car. The did a full bill of sale, trade in amount, price of car etc and handed us the title. When we got to TX we had it inspected and then went and paid the T T &L at the local tax office.

          If the dealer sales to an out of state person they do not collect the Texas TT&L. I am sure they will have other dealership bullshit fees that you won't be able to avoid.

            When I sold cars, Oklahoma residents didn't have to pay tax.

              At the dealership I work at we don't collect out of state sales tax on cash deals, on deals that are financing we do collect sales tax, but we collect based on your states sales tax and send that $ to your state.
