Where to go with 5 days off?

I was supposed to be camping with some college friends in NM starting Wednesday, but plans fell through and now I'm trying to figure out if there is anything that is cool to see by yourself within a reasonable distance from West Texas.

I considered taking a flight to Denver(besides DFW or Houston Denver is the only flight out of here for less than $800 short notice) and driving around to breweries for a few days, but the long tours at New Belgium are already booked and that is the one I really wanted to see.

Gulf Coast, Historic Route 66 to Vegas, Taos, Shreveport, New Orleans all come immediately to mind.

Taos is actually where I was supposed to be going, but the guy whose ranch we were going to didn't pass his final class to graduate and has to go back for summer 2.

Vegas and route 66 are probably too far, especially in an F250 that doesn't get the best mileage those are more of sports car type of road trips. I've got a few epic road trips in mind for after I acquire another vette or newer mustang. Flights to vegas are fairly cheap, but the gambling isn't.

I've never been to pensacola......that's an idea.

AA has a deal on Florida tickets, well atleast they had a deal.

Destin was one of them as was Ft Lauderdale.

I am leaving Wednesday morning to Ft. Lauderdale for a week. I really wanted to go to Destin but I am using miles and the days I needed weren't available.... I have a nice little apartment a quarter mile from the Ft. Lauderdale beach though.. Should be nice, but then again I just looked at the weather and there is rain in the forecast....

Rain is always in the forecast in the Miami area. After 30 minutes it goes away, unless there is a tropical storm.

True, but generally when they forecast 40%+ it means its going to rain, as in more than just a shower. lol.

I hope it just showers like it usually does though.
