I only went once to the Big Boy in Richardson, soon after I arrived here in the late 60's.

Does anyone (have to be an old fart) remember the Pig Stand Drive Inns in and around Dallas? I don't remember much about their sandwiches, but they had the best thick malts around. The one I remember was down near White Rock Lake at Garland Road and Gaston.

The last Pig Stand I saw was in San Antonio in the 1980's.

There was one on 303 on the north side of the Forum Mall. I think it closed in either '85 or '86 and became a Denny's. I remember eating there once, maybe twice.

Its hard to beat mcdonalds as far as what they pay for their product. Once you head up north past kansas into nebraska, south dakota, and iowa they are all about hardee's or as its called down south carls jr.

I think it was Hardees down south (there used to be one on pipeline road) and up here in Oregon as well as Las Vegas, it's Carl's Jr.

There was a Hardee's on 287 in Childress a long time ago, before Chick-fil-A and Krispy Kreme came to Texas. I never saw another one in the state though.

Hardees used to be in Texas, but they left in the 80s, if I remember correctly, and then CKE returned with Carl's Junior in the early 2000s

Bonanza "Sirloin Pit" restaurants were the first chain steakhouse that I can recall. They seemed to be pretty good at the time. Golden Corral pushed them to the wayside however, and GC was/is fair at best.

Did any of you go to the steak house on Garland Road just west of Jupiter (on the south side of Garland Road) that had a huge salad bar, etc. It was kind of rustic looking inside. It burnt down years ago ('70's maybe) and since I do not go down there much any more, wonder if it was ever rebuilt?
