  • It is that time again, electric bill ??

    What are ya'lls bills averaging?

We are 2250sqft and <$105 for the past two months using around 1200kw a month and the A/C never gets put below 76*.

I need some arguing points so I can crank the A/C down to 74* or lower.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

My bill was $215 for a 2000 sqft house so tell your wife Graystanggt says you can crank the ac down.

June Co-Serv 4000sqft 2086 kwh = $204 Thermostat gets to 76 at night. Six ceiling fans run 24hrs and everything but the drier and oven are gas. Gas was around $16.

200 and my house is 70 degrees or a couple of degrees at night. I have 2 14,500 BTU window units helping my under powered unit. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. Why heat and cool rooms you're not in?

Oh, and my house is 2500 square feet and I run ceiling fans, a high velocity on my desk in my face and one by my bed at night
        I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

Being that she is pregnant I was praying she would start to get hot easy and want the house cooler. Fuck me; 77* and she is "I am cold, feel my feet". Put on some fucking socks cause I am sweating.

We only run two ceiling fans in the house 24/7 since we keep the doors to three bedrooms shut and we very seldom go in them.

I am about to disconnect the thermostat from the A/C and hide another one in the house somewhere and leave it on 74*. She can look at the unhooked one reading 77* all day long and never be the wiser.

That is an option. Or could get one of the automatic ones and set a timer where it adjusts itself based on the time

76* during the day (no one home ) and 70* when we are. 4900 sq ft = $416 last month, but the swimming pool runs 8 hrs a day so not bad.

damn. What were you paying per unit?

We are on a brand new 5ton 18seer unit and 22-24"+ of insulation above the ceiling this year. These changes might pay for themselves sooner than we thought at this rate. If I can just squeeze a few more degrees out of it during the night.

Another reason I can't justify a pool for us. And damn that is a HUGE F'ing house.

Ed Wallace wrote an article on the wildly varying TDU charges that some power companies are charging. Some companies are using the TDU charge to mask the true cost of power they are supplying. StarTex Power is only charging me 3.10 a month, but they are charging others more than $40 bucks. Other power companies are charging well over a $100.

Check your bill and see if you have an exceptionally high TDU charge.

Here is the article he wrote:

76 day down, 80 up. 74 night down, 80 up unless Im watching a movie, then 76 (it feels like 66 inside the rooms).

Last 2 bills were 180 and 190, 2250 feet. About normal, when it gets near or over 300 I start to fret. Gas bill goes down to like 10 bucks this time of year so it all works out...

4800SQFT and have my sister living with me upstairs and managed to keep it at $245. One 5 ton and two 3 ton systems but have custom home with radiant barrier good windows etc etc. also keep the stats at 77-78 during the day and about 75 at night.

Putting my 10kW solar panels on in two weeks then hopefully going to heat pumps. can't wait to see what it does then!
