This Marine may have an idea.

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It has been almost six months since disabled Gulf War veteran Stanley Gibson was shot and killed during an incident with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

A Marine is now challenging the officer that shot Gibson to a mixed martial arts fight for charity.

Steve Sanson, who was in the United States Marine Corps, is currently the president of the political action and advocacy group Veterans in Politics.

He came up with the idea for a fight as a way to try and raise money for Gibson's widow Rondha.

Gibson was shot on December 12, 2011.

Las Vegas police had received a call that a man was attempting to break into an apartment in northwest Las Vegas.

When they responded, they eventually surrounded Gibson as he sat in his car.

When he failed to respond to their commands to exit his vehicle, a plan was developed to force him out by firing a non-lethal bean-bag round into the car and then discharging O.C. spray.

After the bean-bag round was fired, Officer Jesus Arevalo fired into the car several times, killing Gibson.

Action News asked the police department for a comment about Sanson's challenge but they said that they had no comment.

Action News was unable to reach Gibson's widow.

And evidently enact death penalties without consequence. The cops claim the man tried to use his car for a battering ram. And would have gotten away with it, but for private video of the incident where the car was sitting still

It's a 2011 story but the fight is scheduled for December so I'm still hoping it happens. Think the officer will put aside his badge and actually face someone who can meet him on equal terms?

Sources said Arevalo fired about seven shots from his rifle into the rear passenger window of Gibson's car, which was pinned against several patrol cars and not moving.

Gibson, a Gulf War veteran who had been off his medications, was delusional and confused in the hours before the shooting.

Gibson was unarmed and appeared not to be a threat, multiple witnesses said.

At a news conference Monday, Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie declined to release details of the investigation.

Multiple department sources told the Review-Journal that a breakdown in communication between supervisors and Arevalo might have contributed to the killing.

Early indications were that two supervisors decided to use a beanbag shotgun -- a weapon designed to subdue but not kill -- to shoot out at least one window of Gibson's vehicle. But their decision might not have been understood by Arevalo, and when one of the supervisors fired the shotgun, Arevalo fired multiple times, possibly reacting to that blast.

When you use an "s" to describe a noun "cops" this means plural or more than one. I don't believe there was any mention of challenging more than one so your title should read "cop" with no "s" therefore meaning only one person. You d-bag!
