What an amazing man, and an amazing generation. Calling him a "survivor" doesn't quite do it justice. Good grief!

On a side note, my Dad was on a sister ship to the one Mr. Linsteadt was on, and duty on those was apaprently tough in it's own right. My Dad was on CVE-120, Mr. Linsteadt was on CVE-115. Escort carrier, a.k.a. jeep carriers, or Combustible, Vulnerable and Expendables.

Grandfather was on CVE-29, rear gunner/radio operator in an SBD. He and the pilot were shot down over north africa in operation torch, eventually made it back to san diego as a drill instructor. Funny thing, a guy I work with now, his father was on the same escort carrier.

Gramps on the right and his brother, '42. I've got the uniform he wore in that picture..

They are the greatest generation for sure. I feel bad for the ones still around like my grandparents. They are having to watch the later generations ruin the country they built and fought for. I know Granddad was in the NAVY during the war, but no idea where or what kind of ship.

I'm a fan of reality. I engage everybody who cares to share their story. I have chosen not to have children because of the way things are going. I applaud people who do, but it's not for me.

My ancestors have provided a better life for their children and I don't feel that I can, so I take the buddhist approach and try to help and positively influence as many people as I can.

If it all falls apart, I take comfort in knowing that I didn't bring anybody else into it and that I helped as many people as possible. That's my life path.

I commend those who are raising future revolutionaries. They are better people than I. But I will continue to do what I can to make the world a better place.

That is an amazing amount of damage for a man to take. I'm in awe of the physical capability and character that man must have. In what world does he not have a PH?

I agree with that ideology. Then I had my son and that's it. I'm done. I figure he's a NZ citizen so if things fall apart here, I can send him there but until those who hold up the society decide to take their marbles and go Galt, it won't change

Seriously Eric? Your life path is the same as Forrest's in where you help make the world a better place? By what, making degrading comments, and serving helpings of hate and discontent?
