Thats a slightly different scenario than this tho. If he sends the money you go to walmart and pull it out. cash in the hand that can't be taken back out of your bank account like paypal can. I know a guy who bought a set of 20 yo original wheels from a guy then because they had ONE scratch on them he filed a complaint and got his money back and didn't send the guy his wheels back. SCREW Paypal!

Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

Only take deposits in form of a GIFT. If they send it regular, it is refundable because they didn't get the item. Simple as that. If I do take a deposit on something through paypal and they send it regular. I simply refund it and tell them to send deposit as gift and nothing else or I won't accept.

If you provide a tracking # and it shows delivered to the right address paypal will favor your side. Atleast they have everytime someone has tried to pull that against me.

Also, if they do it as a gift... do you still have to pay the 3%?

I am not shipping anything to him. So when we arrange the pickup and final payment for my car and the parts I will make sure I have a big friend there with me, just in case..... Like Justin.... and for witness purposes. It's a damn shame we have to worry about this kind of shit, what ever happened to just shaking a man's hand and making a deal?

When I sell a vehicle on ebay I normally take $1000 deposit via paypal.

When they pick up I have them sign the following:

                      1. Bill of sale. 2 Copies..one for my records and one for the buyers. I have them initial the "AS IS" box as well clarifing they are buying the car as it sits.

                      2. A record of payment for the deposit. 2 Copies..one for my records and one for the buyers

                      3. A record of payment for the remaining balance showing 0 is owed on the car. 2 Copies..one for my records and one for the buyers

When requesting the paypal money for the deposit i put in there in all caps that the deposit is non-refundable as stated in the ad.

So far I have had no issues.

This does no good if you are taking a deposit and aren't shipping anything.

I never pay 3% when receiving it as a gift. Thats a way my friends pay me when they don't have cash and need to buy something from me.

Sure. PM your email addy and I will send them out when I get home from work. I have them on my home computer.

Forms 2 and 3 are the same. I just fill out one showing 1,000 has been paid on whatever date via paypal and show the remaining balance. Then on the 2nd one I show that the remaining has been paid via cash, wire, etc and 0 is owed.

If selling to someone in TX I also sign a TX title transfer form.

I usually sell cars for my father in law so the money forms have 3 signatures. Mine, my father in laws, and the buyers. The forms are in Word so you can alter it however you want it.
