As soon as he told me he works off shore and would have to wait two week. Id tell him find a friend to come get it and pay me or your shit outa luck.

You keep dicking around with this guy and hes excuses all these other people that are interested will have found something else to go buy

Also I dont deal with pay pal on vehicles... if he disputes it you can be shit outa luck and in more of a shit storm. Cashiers check, cash, etc. If personal check I go with them to the there bank cash it right then and there. If you deposit a bunk check in your account your out the funds and person could be long gone

      Oilfield workers are the worst.

paypal? Wants to use money gram?

        Nope. I take cash. $15k? C-A-S-H

If it's not green and I can't spend it immediately I do not deal with it.

        Especially off craigslist.

He can't make you hold it for him just like you can't make him pay for it.

I was going to do a google image search for Money Talks and post the movie poster but then I remembered there is an adult website by the same name. I'm at work so I decided against it.

Whats wrong with moneygram?? It's money in the hand and your not taking the chance of paypal screwing you. I personally WON'T take paypal due to their seller unfriendly policies.

I've heard a lot of bad stories about it. Just didn't want to travel down that road. I'd rather stay with one I am familiar with and have a great track record with......

You've been more than reasonable on this. 2 weeks? I dealt with an oil field guy on selling my 66. He took almost a month to get out here and then when he did, he kicked the tires and hemhawed over it trying to get me lower than the agreed upon price.

Cash talks. Surely, he knows someone who his wife will hand the cash to to come get it and pay you. If not, he's not worth dealing with

Tell the guy he can come and pick up the car as long as he signs an IOU, give him several more weeks to get his funds in order, he'll pay up I'm sure of it! If not, the IOU is as good as gold.

If they're interested and want to make a deposit, I'll hold it a day, maybe two. Although if they can't pay cash and pick it up by the third day, forget it. I'll definitely move on to the next interested party.

They shouldn't be shopping if they don't have the money in hand, or can't come get it for x amount of time.

I am a man of my word and I stick by it, but I would give this guy a deadline to get the deposit and if he can't meet it, then sell it.

As for general car selling etiquette, it's first come, first served. If I have two people coming, I deal with the first customer. I don't have bidding wars, if I agree to a price, I stick with it 100%.

I just had this issue with a guy on here. I PMed him to buy a part, he agreed to a price and said I could pick it up the next day. Next day he gave me a time to come and get it and I agreed. Then he PM's me saying that someone else offered more than me and he would sell to him instead. I called him on being a dick and he tried to cop out saying that he never "holds" something for someone. I responded that I didn't ask him to hold it, I agreed to pick it up when he told me that I could.

I would NEVER do that after a deal was struck. If I agree, that is it, deal done.

I agree with almost everyone on here.... but I agree with you most.

Had 1 more phone call tonight and still nothing. I may be moving on come tomorrow morning.... I HATE dealing with this stuff. It's the main reason I was just going to say FUCK it and buy all the parts I needed for my rebuild brand new. That way I didn't have to deal with trolling boards and dealing with individual sellers. It's such an ass whip.....

I'll have him sign it in crayon while he's at it

Yeah if tonight goes by with no progress it'll be past his deadline. Then I;ll feel justified when I tell him the deal is off. Been more than lenient on this matter.
