My lady got into the dental hygiene program at Del Mar in Corpus Christi. The school is pretty strenuous so she will not be able to work. She's HAS to get student loans, just to live. My question to you Metroplex Elite is, what is the best way to obtain a student loan? She'll need at least $1,500 a month just to get by. What loan companies did you guys go through and what is the usual interest rate?
Thanks,

Now for my actual post. My mom is a Dental Hygienist, and loves it. She had to work hard to get there, but now makes very good money working only 3-4 days a week. Congrats to your "lady" as you put it for giving it a real try, and I hope she does well. I don't have any real help with loans as I know very little about them. So I guess this post isn't any real help with the actual question. I thought I would chime in on the positive side of things after some of the negetive posts though. It's a very good career, and makes very good money. I should know, it helped get me a lot more presents around Christmas time..223 > 911

But pulling "at least $1,500 a month" for the 2 years is pretty crazy...she CAN work. Lets get that straight...she CAN work. Maybe it'll be a little too much effort in her perspective now to do both, but don't tell yourself it's impossible. I mean even working 10-20 hours a week will help you to not get stuck with $36,000 in student loans for a 2 year degree. If you still can't stand it, I agree with going federal. I think Sallie Mae does a lot of different types of loans as well.

Wife is a pharmacist and the loan is pretty much a second mortgage.

My ex worked for a Denists office for a while and my best friend dated her co worker a DH. Very good money and she worked, one week on ten hours, and one week off. In the grand scheme of things they make a decent salary and have good schedules. I know this was the case at more then one office. That was over ten years ago and I would think they would be pulling more in now. Although back then that is all you heard on the radio was adds for Dental schools. Eventually you would think they would have more supply then demand. Kind of like architects in the 90's. All the rage and you could wright your own check so I was considering it. By the time I was about out of college age, I knew a few of them, and the money was not near as good, and finding a job was hard.Whos your Daddy?

WTF do you tools mean to accomplish with comments like this? That "witty, cool-guy" reputation? Like my previous posts, this site allows you to be what society doesn't allow. Because anywhere else you would get beat down for stupid ass comments like this.
Excuse me, my T is up!
