I started diving when I was stationed in Gitmo in 1987. I was in the water every 3 days or so and absolutely LOVE to dive. It's some of the best exercise you can get. I would literally eat like a horse after dives.
The bad thing about being certified in Gitmo was being spoiled on 200' visibility.
When I got out of the service and looked into diving around here, there's no way I can live with 5-30' visibility.
I was working on my Dive Master with PADI when I transferred out of Gitmo, so I never got that cert.

I haven't been on a dive in a long time but I am Padi certified. Would love to go again! I got quailed and learned to dive in Okinawa Japan. Amazing diving there, excellent vis (as long as there was not a typhoon in the neighborhood) cool stuff to see etc. Good times!

Finished my second day of diving class. I decided to go with my buddy's dive shop in NRH called We B Divin'. The name is a little dumb, but the instructor is ex-military and very knowledgeable. He has been great so far.
The biggest thing I've had trouble with is recovering my air on the drill where you drop it behind you and do a sweep to recover it. To compensate I've been really good at reaching up to the hoses and tracing it down that way. We were only diving in a 12-15 ft pool, but I have enjoyed every minute of it so far! In two weeks we go to Clear Springs in Terrell to do the open water portion and hopefully I'll be certified after that!
A few friends and our wives are now planning a trip to Puerto Rico September 28 through October 2. We should have 3-4 divers and it will be my first time in the ocean. To try to get as much experience as possible, once certified I want to dive as many weekends as possible before we leave. Let me know if you're interested in diving with me to get my experience up.Owner of Titan Towing

One more thing. I'm the only one in the class so far that has done the roll off entry. No one else wanted to risk it, but I think it's more fun than just stepping off!Owner of Titan Towing
