  • What goes around really does come back...

Back in 2005 when I bought the wheels for my Chevelle I had a terrible experience with the vendor that I went through (stupid me should have bought them straight from the manufacturer at the time).

Anyways, I posted a thread here about it - http://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?6548-Newstalgi-Wheel&highlight= (it's a long read), but basically a moderator shut the thread down after I got the last word. I got an overwhelming response from this thread...tons of PM's on that site, emails, and had people come up to me everywhere we took the car for a few years following this deal...Powertour, shows, Super Chevy, etc. I had emails and or PM's from guys saying that they asked about the incident at Newstalgia's booth at SEMA, Carlissle, Bowling Green, and several other places. Also got correspondence from others who wrote me just to tell me that they had cancelled orders b/c of reading that thread...one of those guys was in the UK even!

Bottom line, the company was hearing about this incident as much if not more than I was. About a year following this, the owner of the company contacted me asking what he could do to make it right....I said, really?? A year later you are coming to me?....told him to get bent! Apparently Pro-Touring didn't do them any favors by locking that thread with my response being the last b/c that thread was coming up top on a lot of search engines everytime anyone searched "Newstalgia Wheel"....so it got a lot more press than just from forum members out there! However eventually they did convince the guys at Pro-Touring to alter the thread title so that it wouldn't be picked up as easily...it's now "Newstalgi Wheel", but otherwise the same thread.

Well...fast forward many years later....I haven't forgotten how they screwed me, but I haven't heard anything else about it in a few years either. I was actually contacted today by some jackass with Newstalgia...asking me if there was anything they could do to change my opinion so that I would post a rebuttal and/or ask for the thread to be reopened and "clear the air".

My response was only 3 words.....go fuck yourself!

HA! Apparently this has had some lasting effects on those dicks! I noticed that they aren't a Wheel Vintques Authorized Dealer anymore either...can't help but wonder.

It is a shame that the website caved in and changed the thread title.

FYI - I used to post under the same username but haven't been on in a while, something happened and I had to re-register. This is long, but worth the read if you are in the market for wheels. I just went through a bunch of crap when I bought the wheels for my Chevelle...so I thought I'd share this experience. I bought a set of 18" Billet Vintiques...a place called Newstalgia Wheel (www.newstalgiawheel.com) came highly recommended from a couple of other car guys. They are one of the

If under no ownership (if you dealt with the owner) and/or new management I would consider a truce after this long of a time. Imagine being the new GM that just inherited this shit storm. He still needs to find a way to make the company succeed. If he could outline steps they have taken to make it right internally and make steps with you; I could see settling.

Yep. I hold a grudge like a mother fucker. But second chances sometimes are worth it.

I do too but a grudge against a company or the individual in that company that pissed you off or fucked you over is different. Granted I did not read the threads posted.,

David Coker still owns the company, and he is one of the people I dealt with personally back then.

There were several guys that told me they wouldn't necessarily have taken my side so much had Howard not replied to the thread the way that he did. His position was that he wasn't involved, but yet nothing was their fault, took no responsibility, outright named their vendor, and tried to push everything else off on UPS, and then saying I was at fault too for not allowing them more time after 4 months had already passed...all the while UPS refused to cover the damages b/c the wheels were so poorly packaged in the first place. He got caught in a lie about repackaging the wheels too...tried to say that they came that way from WV, but it was confirmed that the wheels shipped from them, not drop-shipped directly from WV as he tried to imply.

Regardless, it felt DAMNED GOOD getting that phone call now, over 7-years later, and now knowing that this is obviously hurting them a lot more than it's hurting me! You can't buy my integrity.

Yeah, I'm torn on this one but can certainly see Rreemo's point of view. If nothing else, he's right and if it's still the same ownership I can understand him not forgiving and allowing some slack.

Plus, if they were smart - they'd get people the rate them in as many places as possible and eventually that thread would be buried. If they truly are good now, most people will understand 1 or 2 bad things - especially 7 years ago.

However, apparently they are not smart enough to figure that out.
