Texas State Aquarium, USS Lexington, the beach, eat good Texas seafood, experience real South Texas Tex-Mex, watch a baseball game at Whataburger field, visit the two story Whataburger downtown, fishing on Bob Hall pier.
Go across to port aransas hang out on the beach. It is still red snapper season, book a fishing trip, I just went on a 10 hour trip down there and had a blast.
Lived in the area for 5 years. Wanted to move after a couple of weeks..lol
Food...
Mexican food Senor Jaime's on Everhart is excellent!
Burger Hurbs Burgers at Weber and Sartatoga Wallbangers on Staples.
Italian.... Frank's Spaghetti House on Leopard St...a must when in Corpus! Not in a good area of town but went there many times and never had a problem. They have very limited hours so plan accordingly!
Steak... Republic of Texas top floor of the Omni Hotel...$$$$$$ but really worth it if you like a pretty fancy dinner with a very nice view at sundown! We tried to plan going with about an hour of day light left so we could watch the boats and then sunset.
Outside of Corpus
Trout Street Bar & Grill. 104 W Cotter Ave, Port Aransas, TX view of the boat docks and pretty good food.
Pop's Place 202 Park Road 13 Rockport, TX 78382..looks like a total dive..really good food but be aware...they are on island time so they don't get in a hurry! But the food is worth it!
I'm at Señor Jamie's getting some food. Thanks again for the help!
Wish I was there this evening. 2 enchiladas with chips and queso....
As for rent....WHY would you want to move there? The area is about 10-15 years behind on the pay scale. We lived in Portland and you can get a decent place 3/2/2 for $850-$1000. You could not pay me enough actually live in Corpus. Northern Mexico, drivers suck and traffic is a nightmare anywhere that is decent enough to live.
