nobody just flat out does not shop.. You may not like to shop, or may not do it frequently. But I'm sure your home is furnished, you have clothes on and your pantry is full. Doubt the wife did all of that alone. Just ask for a Frys or Best buy gift card and keep it in your wallet till you get the itch for a new tv or something.

At least with a furniture or electronic store a gift card is kinda an easy scapegoat cause you could be saving for something that is to big for a family to give as a Christmas gift.

You have an obligation to that store unless they have some partner store you can buy at. Its not like you get a discount on a gift card.
