I have no clue what you did before or what you are looking for, but my company is always hiring and I have a few positions open that I need to fill. May not be what you are looking for, but you are welcome to send me a resume.

I am in a VERY similar situation.

Back in February my wife and I seperated. I was just planning on it being for a week or so, but then I get served divorce papers. Well, Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings were already underway at that time. So, I moved in with my parents for a bit because our house was included in the bankruptcy. In April I had to have foot surgery so I was out of work for about 2 months, then the day before I was supposed to go back to work I get a phone call saying I no longer have a job. Pretty similar, right?

Well, the day after I got that phone call a buddy of mine called me to tell me a friend of his needs someone ASAP to do mobile GPS tracker installs and bringing in $6k a month. I tell him sure, I'll do it. 2 days later I'm on the road to Austin. I'm in Baton Rouge today, on Monday I'll be in New Orleans and next month I'll be in Florida.

Now, I am back talking to my wife and we are talking about getting back together after we both discovered the real reason why things went south (marriage counselors didn't help at all).

Keep your chin up, you are NEVER at rock bottom unless you are 6' under. Things can ALWAYS be worse and it's all about what you make of your situation.

This is why I love this board!
If we were hiring, I would try to get you on here as well.
Good luck to you and your family Michael.

Did you not file FMLA? It is illegal for a company to fire you for being out with an injury, or was it "elective" surgury?

I was not eligible for FMLA due to the number of employees at my location being too low. So, I was told I had to take a personal leave of absense. I've looked into it and I have no recourse.

Now get your ass to work, son! You're talking about getting UBs and staying home with your kid for a month, get to work dude...
                  Exactly..

Im in 3pl Warehousing and Logistics. I got laid off after working for a company for 7 years when our core customer went and built there own huge ass warehouse and took everything under one roof. I ended up going to work setting up a warehouse for a customer we had in our building at a $25,000 a year pay cut, still much better money than Unemployement....I did that for 2 months and was picked up by a juice company that put me right back to where I was. I never gave up.....I kept looking day and night. I got hired back at the company that laid me off about a year ago, much better contract and making about 10k a year more than I was when they laid me off.

I'm to proud to ask for help and I don't want to take a handout, I would if I had to but I was far from giving up.

Good things happen to good people.
Keep your head up Michael, don't stop looking.

First off, thanks to those that contacted me on the boards and those that I know away from the boards as well. I ended up going camping with my daughter for just over a week. We had a great time and the grounds have wifi so I was still able to continue to my job search while I was away.

My goal is to have a full time position before my daughter starts school and then do all I can to move closer to her. I've gotten a few leads but I'm really wanting to stay out of the retail and customer service. I'm finding myself looking at more at labor intensive jobs now, I figure I've had soft hands for the past 12 years and that's far too long for me.

Money comes and money goes in life. Right now i'm at a low spot just like you (and a lot of other people on this board) have gone through - i'm out of work and luckily was able to sell my house. I'll be moving in with family in about a month. Such is life, and i'll crawl back out of the hole soon. I'm not worrying too much about it at the moment and am using the time to relax and re-evaluate things.

Just keep your head up Michael and remember that tomorrow is a new day.

if you haven't gone through hard times in your life, you're probably due.
