You said anyone with half a brain could make 20-30 an hour and then said I had half a brain so you were obviously implying something. I also didn't give an amount to what I make, I was just rebutting that I obviously do have half or more of a brain if I am making more than what in your mind requires "half a brain" or more.

Believe me, I appreciate everyone's input on this. I've been employed since I was 14 and I'm 32 now. Very soon I'll have a resume prepared and out on the hunt like many others.

The timing is actually not that bad. I had already planned on taking off July for vacation. Only difference is that instead of coming back from vacation to an apartment, I'll be heading to my parents place. I've had this trip planned for months and a promise is a promise.

And while the oil field looks like a good gig I'm also aware that oil is trading in the high $70's and that might trigger layoffs if it continues losing value. The military also is safe bet. However, both will have me far from my daughter. And while I know I'm not likely to have the best of both worlds with a decent paying job and new place close to my daughter I'm going to do all I can to make that a reality.

I've been in a similar situation. Though I haven't been married and don't have any kids, I found myself unemployed 3 times in 2 years, ended up losing my house and scrambling for a place to live. It isn't a place you want to find yourself, but it happens, even to those of us who have tried to do right. This all happened after graduating from college.

I don't know what your aspirations are, but if I was you, I'd take this time to start a business. Having a family myself has made it awfully hard to get off the company tit ... if I was forced out it would be the prime opportunity to get something going. Owning a business isn't for everyone, but if it's something you might be interested in, now's a good time to get one started from the ground up. I can't help but think if you have a solid idea, and actually do what you say you will for a fair price you can be very successful. Not always the case, but it amazes me how flaky some businesses are to their customers.

Good luck in whatever you do, and like you said, "first world problems". There ARE jobs out there, you just gotta beat feet to make it happen.

At the end of the day you need to do whatever YOU need to do to recover. Some people might see you making some questionable decisions, but if there was ever a time in your life to be wild, this might be it. Or it might be a terrible idea. That is up to you and how YOU work internally. Don't let any one else give you shit about what you're doing to move past it though. We all heal in different ways. Good luck.
