  • First world problems

I'm losing my house since I was unable to afford it. Then I was fired yesterday after being with the company for over 11 years. No way around it, this sucks. This comes after my divorce and custody case that lasted over 2 years and now I'm having to go back to court for contempt.

Now I'm old, single, unemployed and having to move in with my parents. I'm moving things to storage this week. I filed for unemployment this morning and I have my daughter all of July. I suppose the good thing is that I don't have to worry about child care next month.

I really wanted to be angry about my circumstances or at least sit and cry about it for a while but I realize that doing either won't change the circumstances I'm in. I think the worst part is that I feel like I've hit rock bottom but I don't have alcohol or drugs to point to as a contributing factor lol!

Time to come up with a new game plan, anyone else had a similar experience and came out the other side better for it, and what did you do to achieve this?

Sorry to hear this. At least you do have family to turn to and the will to work your way back up from rock bottom.

Every time I've had problems with my Crohn's disease, or my fucked up back, I have to always tell myself, "It could always be worse." At least you have your parents to help you out in this time of need, and at least you have the kiddo and will get to spend time with her.

I know that doesn't help, but jumping off into drinking/doing drugs DEFINITELY won't help your situation. Just stay positive, dude.

What do/did you do for a living ?

"Strangers with this kind of honesty make me grow a big rubbery one."

Kidding aside keep your head up. The first thing you want to do is create yourself a little support group. I had a hard time after my divorce and for me getting into my local non-denommy church helped me through a rough spot. All my buddies just told me go out and get drunk and get laid. It is not the advise I needed at that time. I just needed to talk about it and understand no ones life is perfect and we all have stuff we have to deal with.

One secret to success will be to consider your child with your decision making. Who cares you had to move back home, your doing what you have to do.

Make a plan and work the plan.

I'm not into drugs or alcohol but most that find themselves at rock bottom usually have some self-destructive behaviors. I'm learning now that you can do everything by the book and still lose big. My losing my job was eventually going to happen. I'm thinking there are not many customer service people out there that have benefits, work from home and make $20 an hour. And if there are, I would like to know where I should submit my resume lol!

And before someone mentions the contempt of court. Someone violated the court orders, I'm not saying who, but it wasn't me lol. I've also learned to stop trying to understand women and their seemingly boundless capacity to hold a grudge, even when it will negatively impact them as well.

Just remember when you are at your lowest point, and down to nothing, God is up to something. Happened with me (though not as extreme) when I was not working, looking for a job, interviewing with one company for almost two and a half months. I was literally down to the last $100 in my bank account when I got the call the next day with the job offer.

Just keep your head up and don't give up. Persistence pays off!
