My Wife and I's flight to Rome and leaving out of Athens coming back would have cost us just shy of $15k, and that is booking a year in advance.

It is business class, but 10 hours in the air...requires a lie flat seat.

Jesus. When I flew from here to Greece and back in 2009 I spent all of $850 round trip. Granted, I flew sardine style on three flights each way, taking about 20 hours total with layovers and such.

I fly all over the country doing spur of the moment aircraft repairs most of the time getting less than 1 days notice to get my ass on an airplane. Booking round trip tickets that short in advance are always 1k and up and thats just here in the states.

International flights have free baggage and alcohol. And if you fly Quantas, TV's in the seat headrests, hot stewardesses with Kiwi and Aussie accents and crap food

Flying DFW - FRA (Frankfurt) then FRA to FCO (Rome)

Business class on Lufthansa going

Coming back it is ATH(Athens) - FRA then FRA to EWR(Newark airport) then EWR to DFW. This time it is United's BusinessFirst all the way back.

Leaving Sunday before labor day (to save a day of vacation) and coming back 2 weeks laterz.
