On Auto theft maybe, but he was still in possession of stolen property as little ago as he sold the car, so that one is still on the table, methinks.

Cynthia Russell said costs to get the car home were around $2,000 for towing, impound and shipping charges.
Anyone else annoyed when you see victims (we've had to do it too) having to pay for crap? The towing, maybe, shipping was their choice but the impound charges get me. Someone takes your crap, and then you have to pay to get it back.

Not to mention how screwed the dealership got on this one too. Good for the owner, but 1 crook can really screw things up. Almost like laws are tailored to protect them, cause he/she is the one making out like a bandit on this whole thing.

If someone stole my 1966 Mustang, sold it to a dealership who is trying to sell it for wayyy more than what I paid for it and has an attorney involved, I would gladly fork $2000 over to get my baby back.

Sweet. I've only got approx. 29 years to be reunited with my 1995 GTS jacked in '99. Never found.

Someone on the Austin-Healey email list questioned if the car really shouldn't go back to the insurance company that paid on the car. If he got paid for it, you would think so.

He kept looking for it instead of just replacing it and still had the original title and keys. I don't think he had theft coverage.
