Originally posted by Sgt Beavis View PostLast summer, Mark "the major MF'in asshole" Hurd was fired from HP. Now we've got this new guy, Leo "no one pronounces my name right" Apotheker. He seems to have quickly realized that everyone here hated Hurd and people were starting to leave in droves.
So Leo, to his credit, just reversed the paycut that Hurd forced on everyone five years ago. That put a pretty decent amount of coin back in my wallet. We also started getting some decent bonuses. I got $9K (before taxes) and some stock this year. The only downside is that I didn't get a merit based pay increase, even though I've had the highest annual review rating for two years running. I also got a promotion with no pay increase. I guess I've gotta have something to bitch about, ehh?
All said, I feel that I'm fortunate to be in a profession and specialty that is in very high demand these days.
What area you specialize in? A friend of mine is the CIO of Kraft/EDS.

Meh, the economy has killed my profession. We went from 1,550 employees in 2008 to 830 currently. Bonus in 2008 was $29k. This year, maybe 20% of that.
And I'm not complaining. I'm happy that I'm still employed, having just watched nearly half of my firm lose their jobs over the past two years, my brother included.
