the Find My Phone app is way off. it's accurate to about 100 yards is what I read from the makers. good luck with that. people just need to not lose their phone, or have the money to just buy a new one.

I would be more concerned with my security vs the cost of the plastic phone itself. I need to find the phone self destruct app. If I loose my phone the cost will be minor to the amount of info we keep on them these days.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

If you're using an Android device, Cerberus will do the trick.

I don't keep any info on my phone. I guess they'd be able to get online and post on dfwmustangs.net lol. that's about it.

imagine trying to use one of these phone tracking apps at an apt complex lol. you'd have like 3 stories worth of homes to go through accusing people of having your phone.

If it was left at a store and wasn't there when the owner came back to claim it, then it was stolen.

No reasonable expectation of security if left unattended in a store or public place. Lost.

You can remotely wipe the data off the phone with the Apple app. And I agree completely - the info on the phone is the irreplaceable part. The iCloud service helps with that, though....

Does the apple app allow an alarm to go off...etc? Could have them set it off...just to make sure no one in the home...borrowed the phone...etc.

As mentioned, it's fairly common to track phones and accuracy is usually there.

so this phone that you "stole", presumably before you left on your trip, had a battery that last 7 days without a charge so that they could track it to your house?

I get that part, that was still 7 days after they left on their trip. Thus the phone would have had to have been sitting somewhere for 7 days on ready to be tracked without running out of battery.
