Dad was diagonosed in June the week after father's day. He died this past October from it. It's serious shit. He was not fat, for 53 he was in pretty good shape.

Type 2 diagnosed in 2001. I am on insulin now though. The pills no longer were working and I am still struggling to keep in under control with the insulin. I can't seem to take the right amount. I either take too much or not enough. And my fat ass needs to start loosing weight.

You counting carbs when you eat? Base the amount of insulin off what your blood glucose level is, and what you are eating. Keep in mind, certain foods digest slower, so they break down and jack your sugar up several hours later. Sometimes when I took shots, I would take some when I was getting ready to eat, then a little more 2 or 3 hours later. Pizza and pasta are the worste for that!

I got a book from Amazon called "think like a pancreas". I have not read it yet, but basically I think it tells the same story, to simulate what a non diabetic persons pancreas does, they get insulin all day, shots are only when you take one!

                      Since 1973, damn it.

                      Thanks Mom.

It is a life changing thing without any thought of a cure.

I need to get my hands on that book! I've been needing to chat with you about being a diabetic. Can you shoot me your cell number when you get a chance.

I really feel for you guys, especially the one that have to take shots every day. I don't think I could do it.
