We had another thread on here months ago about these. The pic does not do justice. Those things are big, and all I've ever heard is the sting is serious. My brother grabbed one that bounced off my side mirror and onto my shoulder once, and he concurred. Their sting is a bitch.

They are much more prevalent in west tx.

I want to see it wiggling it's stinger into your neck. That's worth an extra $10.

Texas definitely has tarantulas. I kept one that I found for awhile until its ultimate molt. It turned out to be male, so I let it go because they don't live long after their ultimate molt and they'll tear themselves apart trying to escape captivity to go breed.

I've seen tarantula's in New Braunfels before, but I didn't think we had any around DFW. I am pretty tolerant of snakes and most spiders, but if I come across one of those suckers, its going to die and I am going to be one tired son of a gun stomping a mudhole where it was.

... and it's gotta be in the neck. I hear that the nerve endings multiply the pain in that region, I want to see if it's true.

                            ...

I have seen one (or more) buzzing around my place recently. I had never seen one before and I was wondering what breed they were. After reading the description, I don't think I want to get stung by one. Maybe I can coax the neighbor's annoying kid to play with it.

If you can catch one alive, we have a willing guinea pig.

Tarantula's are all over the DFW area. They LOVE lush, thick, heavily watered and manicured lawns (golf courses and businesses that have lots of green grass, trees, and shrubs). They are quite active at night when its cool outside.
