Thinking about getting a Wrangler unlimited

So the wife has decided she wants to trade the Lincoln for a Jeep. I am a huge fan of Jeep, so I'm happy. Just wondering if anyone on here has one and what they really think.

We have a 2012 Rubicon unlimited... With 35s and a lift. It's my wife's daily... She really likes it. The mpg blows though.

Anything specific you wanted to know?

Don't get a Rubi unless you plan on putting 37's or larger on it. I assume since it your wife's it probably won't see the trails too often.

They are really fun to work on.

I have a 2010 Sport. It was a big adjustment to go from an '06 Wrangler Rubicon to a 2010 Unlimited, but I got a stupid amazing deal on it, so I can overlook the lack of power. Robert gets really frustrated with it, though.

I would recommend getting a 2012, since they addressed several of the power issues with the 3.8L V-6 with the Pentastar--better gas mileage, more torque, horse power, and towing capacity.

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking at an 08. Not ready to drop 30k on the 12. One of my wives friends is getting a divorce so I can get a good deal on it. Was mainly wondering if there is any issues I should look for. This will be our third jeep so I know what to expect as far as comfort and mpg.

There's a recall on some earlier JKs because debris can get caught under a skid plate and cause a fire. Otherwise, there's no real major issues that I know of.

I assume since it your wife's it probably won't see the trails too often.

Ours has been offroad plenty (and it's my wife's). She just doesn't want pinstripes or other body damage, so we keep it to more the jeep trail rather than rock climbing side of things.

The wife has the Sahara unlimited in 08. Hp is pretty low with the lift on it. Was looking at the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare jeep. Pretty impressive and the HP is right. About the same sticker as the wife's jeep at 47k

Took a trip to Turkey and got a little over 17 mpg but we had the wind at our backs

There's also an issue with the transmission lines and the soft tops that is recall/warranty, but I'm not sure if it affected the '08s.

I bought a 2005 Wrangler X in January with low miles for a recreation vehicle. It has the 4.0 motor. It's not fast by any means, but I drive a 500+ RWHP GT. We love driving it, and the kids are thrilled with it. I do wish it was an unlimited and offered a little more room behind the seat though.

Turkey has to be a hell of a trip in a jeep.
