  • Red Bull Soapbox Dallas Selections...

Awww Yeah, Red Bull has finally given us the go ahead to announce that we have been selected to compete in the Red Bull Soapbox Dallas competition (www.redbullsoapboxusa.com). If we win, we get a trip to the Austin Formula 1 event and other goodies.

If anyone cares to see anything about our team, we have a crappy blog with some great videos:

Lastly, if anyone wants to help us weld up a frame (or let us just borrow a cheap welder) please let me know and I'm sure we can work out an exchange for various items, mostly in the ballpark of 6/12/24/30 packs depending on how long it takes. We can also put a sponsorship sticker on there if you have a shop and we get RedBull to approve it.

    Is anyone else competing?

You have to put a " dfwmustangs, the most powerful gang in the world" sticker on the front of that bad boy for the cameras...

Hahaha...I was thinking about sneaking DFWM on there somehow. I should have just designed a fox body and acted out a meeting between tali, trublue, BJ, and frost in the beginning skit.

Kick Ass! Where are you located?

Our frame is pretty simple, I started out going way over board on the design and settled for something much more dumbed down. If we have someone with more skill, maybe we can go back to a good design instead of something so easy to cut/weld. Only 1/3 of the race is based on speed, with the rest being creativity and showmanship, so we want to throw a few tricks in the mix, maybe a wheelie bar or biased braking for a good spinout.

Here's a quick pick of the frame assembly, with a few of the steering components that are in work now. It will still need a little more bracing but also needs to be light and only has to work once

I'll volunteer to play myself if the others will and I can get in on the indy Car action! Sounds badass and fun.
