the one thing I don't think they could change immediately on the bike, would be the crash bars I added to it. ordered them from over seas and to take them off you'd need the factory motor mount bolts and some other bolts. sadly, my friend couldn't really remember if she noticed them or not she was with someone else and couldn't stay with the bike either.

The same thing happen with my buddy's SS. He had a red SS with black Hood and tailgate, when it was stolen about a week later we seen a red SS with primer grey hood and tailgate running around with burleaon paper tags. Couldn't seem to ever catch him.

The Homelink products can help prevent this because they can be wired to not function unless the ignition is on. So no garage door opener in car to steal and no garage door opener to function if they break into the car. I have two mirrors with Homelink built in and they are great.

used to drive me nuts when well-meaning friends and family would say things after my teal 93 vert was stolen, "Hey, I think I saw a car just like yours last week in WalMart's parking lot, but I didn't bother to write down the tag" or "Hey I think I saw a car just like your but it was red and it wasn't a convertible. It was headed toward Garland. Who knows, it might have been it."

I had one person so convinced they found it that I followed them to an apartment complex, it was a damn teal Cavalier convertible they were looking at.

HTF does that help me? Just keep your mouth shut unless you are standing looking at it or have a tag number or something.

            Good luck man!

After what's probably been done to it (rattle canning for instance) do you even really want it back now?

I think I saw it, but it was grey, black and said gsx-r on it.

I would think so since I believe he didn't have theft on his insurance.

yep. Plus then I'd at least still have something to ride. I was actually about to sell the bike and get something else. Had been trying to find what I wanted.

more than anything I'd hope to find the bike just to find the person that has it...

Another business in the lot sorta SW of my work always has an R6 parked on the sidewalk. I noticed today that it had a swingarm mount for the license plate, and the plate was nowhere to be found on it. then it hit me when I was already on 35 that I shoulda gone in and asked if his plate had been stolen. if it had, then I could at least give the FWPD an update that my bike might have that tag # on it now.

or maybe that bike is also stolen....and whoever is riding it is the same person that staked yours out....knew exactly when you came to work, left, etc. Just a thought.....

Why did you not have theft ins. on a sportbike? Even if it wasn't the most popular model, it looked nice in the pics.

Paul, I can't believe as long as you worked at the bike dealership, and you working there when my bike got stolen, that you wouldn't have comprehensive insurance. Hell that's all I had and I'm damn glad I did.

Probably because it is stupid high on a sport bike. Mine was stolen, recovered, and I still don't have full coverage. Cheapest I could find was around 150 a month. Had the bike 5 years that would be 9k in insurance.....2k more than i paid for the bike new. You play the odds and hope yours doesn't get jacked.

I had just liability and theft on mine, not comprehensive. So if it was stolen I was covered but if I wrecked it I was responsible for fixing it. Wasn't that expensive for me when compared to full coverage.
