I can 'kinda' see the merit, one thing that took a season was learning that the ball doesn't hurt to stand in front of it to stop. I recall my dad telling me to not catch the ball and he tossed the ball at my chest ( not hard ) and said see, that shit doesnt hurt... Not standing in front of the ball and letting it go by you to warrant a whipping which would hurt worse as a learning mechanism, but who the fuck wants to learn sports like that. That guy was beating his kid out of pure frustration in some parts of the video which is a bit overboard but clearly not a felony level offense.
