  • Daycare complaints and potential fallout

There was a incident involving my daughter at daycare today. After asking what happened it became clear that my daughter was unaccounted for for some time this morning.

I asked the director for an explanation and when I didn't get one it turned to her shifting blame. I had enough and politely and calmly explained to her in front of her employee that I would be filing a complaint.

Her response was, something along the lines of oh really, I'll just tell them you brought her to daycare like that (injury around eye). This is the daycare's owner. I tell her that is fine but I have a documented track record of my daughter being injured at her facility, recordings of her employees lying to me, and that I would not participate in a he/she said arguement.

I then told her that I take care to record my interactions with her. She doesn't like this one bit and tells me to leave the property and that I am not allowed back. I think its total bs. She is clearly pissed that I am filing a complaint. And should she try to be creative with the truth I have an audio recording of the event.

I understand that childeren are children and bumps and bruises occur. I also know that my daughters teacher said she was not in the large area where the kids eat breakfast before going their classrooms. She told me her eye was like that when she went to class after 8:30am. I dropped her off before 7:30 this morning.

The director tried to cover this up by saying she was in the area where they are eating breakfast while the rest of the her classmates went to class with their teacher. While this could have satisfied my worries about my daughter being unaccounted for, my ex also went to the daycare this am. She told me she was there after 8am and went to her classroom and to the area they have breakfast in. She was told our daughter was not there today.

My daughter says a schooler was hugging her head really tight and nobody saw it happen. She said the boy had black hair and black skin. There are several boys that fit that description. I'm very pissed and even my ex is upset. I still have to pick up my daugter from there at 4:30 so I'm a bit concerned. Sorry for the long read.

Sorry bro - just do what your gut instincts tell you.

I would report the incident since they kicked you out.

Sounds like you needed a new day care anyway... but complain away if you think anything will actually change because of it.

I did complain. They told me they cannot ban me from seeing my daughter unless there is a court order stating so and I am free to see her and pick her up. Basically, she ran her mouth when I pulled her card.

Tomorrow should be interesting, that is for certain.

I'd be woried about them taking out on your daughter when you are not there.

If anyone ever tried to cover up my daughter being in harm's way - or even potentially in harm's way... and continued to take a stance in the fact that I were upset, I'd reign down hell on them.

I wouldn't take my daughter back. I'd also be contacting whatever board managed daycares and potentially even CPS.

That sucks Mike. FWIW, I had my kids in a home child care setting, state registered... and it was a MUCH better environment than the kid mills that are the typical daycare settings.

When you change, I'd REALLY consider the option.

One of her personal friends is the CPS person for our area and she also has her children enrolled there as well.

I will be speaking with her supervisor at CPS as well.

And I wish I could pull her out of that daycare. I'm still fighting to be the primary custodial parent. Today was a bit of a breakthru in that my ex is now considering to sign a quit claim deed so I can proceed with my loan modification.

Whatever it takes, man. I'd do anything it took to make sure my daughter was as happy (and as safe) as could be.

                    I understand. Good luck.

btw - where was the daycare where this happened?

I pleaded my case to my ex to get her out of there long before this happened. A friend of her family happens to work there so they figured it was a good idea.

That last line concerns me the most. How old are these kids? Not to spook you but I have seen some really crazy shit taking reports about ten year olds.

I rained down hell on a woman once, and she was shut down. During my process, it was discovered that her license had expired. And that was for diaper rash/diaper issues. I'd go quite a bit further if I were you. She had other reports that kept her from getting her license back.

You don't fuck with my kids. And I know accidents happen. But neglect is a big issue for me.

My child would never to back, either. That's a guarantee.

I looked into the past complaints and its pretty clean. I'm simply amazed at that too. I'm the same way about protecting my daughter. Unfortunately, my hands are tied on this and my ex is likely to not do anything about it. Our daughter's safety and well-being should be the priority, not trying to save face.

I'm really surprised at seeing the director do anything possible to avoid accountability today. She did this in front of a dozen kids and an employee. Her employee even agreed that I "asked for her look into the matter further and that I wasn't starting trouble." The Director was really pissed when I made her aware I was recording the conversation. Whoops, so much for the possibility of being creative with the truth.

I'm glad the licensing board told me that they cannot bar me from the daycare unless there is a court order stating so. Scare tactics are not the best thing to do to someone who follows through and does his research. What the director did was pure retaliation in nature and then threatening to keep me from seeing our daughter.

Best and worst part is my ex going up to the daycare and not seeing our daughter there. She thought I kept her home for the day. This basically shows that nobody in charge knew where our daughter was. However, this makes me very worried for our daughter and what might of taken place while nobody was doing their job.

No offense to your exwife, but I would tell her to go get fucked if she doesn't pull your daughter out of that shithole and into a place more suitable. That shit is completely uncalled for, not too mention unprofessional, as well as you're not getting what you're paying for if they don't know where your daughter is or if there are accidents that are happening that nobody is seeing happen.
